Anyone know what sort of min size lens you need for the flying show at Stow Maries?

I've been there several times and for landing / take off shots I'm usually at around 250-300 focal length (using a Canon 100-400 on a 600D or 70D according to my exif details), a 300 mm lens will certainly be adequate but a 400mm better.

Here's a link to an album of pics taken in 2015 on the 100-400 / 600D combination
https://www.flickr.com/photos/125470545 ... 333588310/ the exif info is visible on the images on the flickr page

I've now got a Sigma 150-600 as well as the 100-400 but the Sigma wouldn't give much extra benefit so would use the latter there to avoid too much camera switching and then a shorter lens for the ground shots on my other camera - I've got a 70D and 80D these days and gave the 600D away to a friend who only had one camera.

Main problem is that the sum won't come round enough until around 2pm - 2.30 for arrivals if they are using runway 02-20 which tends to be the favoured one

Great - thanks for the info Andy. While you are on - and local - any other interesting places to visit between Stansted and Stow Maries - aviation or non aviation?

only two suggestions I can make are Andrewsfield although note that they ask you not to post photos on the internet and a bit in the wrong direction (just down the M11 from Stansted) is North Weald - Dan (LN Strike-Eagle) knows a lot about the latter so maybe ask him if he doesn't see this and reply.
