Personally I believe finances have played a major part in the line up this year.
Going forward we as enthusiasts can only hope that the airshow survives as the airshow scene as a whole has been decimated over the last 20 years.
The appetite for shows is clearly there as the show sells out year on year, we'll just have to enjoy what we've got and I for one will and hope that it doesn't suffer from last minute cancellations.
But what we'll never know is whether this show would have sold out if it had been 100% of tickets that they had to sell for this show, rather than whatever the % is that they'd already sold for the 2020 show that have rolled over (ie people who didn't buy tickets based on their desire to attend this show specifically).

Correct we'll never know how many tickets would have been sold for this year's show,I can only go by pre covid years numbers, what's far more important is future ticket sales as the airshow scene appears to be hanging by a thread with all the uncertainties in this world.

If finances are an issue due to costs rising then that can be fixed next year with a rise in ticket prices. I want to give the team every credit for 'going for it' and not doing a Yeovilton.

As I've previously posted, the flying display is only a very small handful of acts down on 2017, and there is some real quality in there.

Great so they advertise their tickets for months and on the website it said six hours then with days to go they say “oh by the way the displays not 6 hours” 😂
I think we should get a proportion of money back. I totally understand operation commitments, weather, serviceabilty. But when there never was 6 hours of flying displays there is no excuse.
Its like going to the cinema and paying to see a film with a runtime of 2 hours, an hour in it stops and they tell you that they didnt plan the film very well and didn't film the ending!

I just hope they have a new team in place by next year.
I'm kind of not involved because I was never going, but just a word on next year. If this year has been an avoidable cock-up resulting from management not using all the data that is just "out there" for event running in general and any information about Cosford from archive, then the team leader needs to go. That's (a) accountability and (b) recognition that someone else with better management skills will do better. However, the team itself will have learned a good deal from this year's experience.... do you really want another totally new team that may be starting all over again, or the one that has learned from experience?
This is more along the lines of what i meant thinking about it.

OK, this is going to sound really anal. Despite all the controversy and debate, we are only on just over 400 posts. In previous years there have been between 1300 and 1500 posts. Does this mean that most enthusiasts can't be bothered about the aforesaid problems or are there just fewer of us about. Could we be a dying breed!

Its more than the last show so far which was 323 posts.
2018 was 955 posts

Massive downwards trend after 2016/17 though.

Will be polarising on opinion I'm sure, but I love that scheme.

The green one black look beautiful on the social media shots of it pulling up.

The snake to me looks a bit weird though.

RAF Typhoon currently in rehearsal at Cosford. Belgian F-16 ‘X-Tiger’ looks to be enroute too. Not seen anything on the Rafale yet.
I am impartial to a bit of jet noise.

That Hercules is circling Cosford now. Could the Falcons be jumping from one?

From the tweet above it sounds like two Belgian F16s could be heading over. Things hotting up!

A couple of flypasts on Sunday with both F16 together would be a nice addition to the programme.

A question, i'm thinking about heading up by coach tomorrow morning, do you reckon the F-16/Rafale/Typhoon will practice tomorrow? (if they've done so today already?)

More likely to have the F16 and Rafale practice tomorrow. Typhoon has already rehearsed.

Rafales (plural?!) and a Transall in support have apparently arrived at Shawbury.

Arrivals chinook, puma, hercules done a few passes and had a suspected bird strike on landing. Just waiting to see if rafale displays/validates later

If f16 displayed today is there any point in coming to cosford tomorrow to see it again? is there a chance it’ll display again tomorrow?
