Spent a few days in San Diego in an apartment right under the flight path into SAN. If you're unfamiliar, it's an old-school airport right in the city. The final approach passes low over the huge Balboa Park, which sits on high ground in the city centre. We were right next door - the planes emerged from behind trees (first pic) before disappearing over nearby buildings as the ground dropped away behind us. I really wished I'd brought my long lens as I only had a 55mm zoom but I whacked the image size up and hoped they'd survive the cropping. Obviously they're not all as sharp as I would have liked. I have basic equipment and don't really know what I'm doing, but I hope you enjoy the variety here all the same! Early-evening light was nice but sky was plain until the photogenic Spirit A320 appeared at the end of my session. I think I caught most of the major carriers; most of the flights into SAN are domestic. Photos in order taken.
All very nice shots, strangely I quite like the last image giving a sense of place and a wider shot of the location. It looks a little crooked so might be tempted to correct the verticals - the edge of the building on the rhs seems to have a lean
Thanks Lightning Fan for the feedback. Steep hills all around so I'm really not sure what was straight and what wasn't! But I see your point. pbeardmore, ran out of time for that one but did tour the USS Midway. Haven't been through those pics yet, if there's enough that are any good then I might post a few. Very cool museum.
