About 30 mins to get in on blue this morning, relatively empty car park and no queue to get in. I was frisked but not searched though, so much for that!

Great to meet up with fellow staffers and other friends though. Wasn't too wet until my piece of "Kris Kris Tofferson!" umbrella decided to give up so I called it a day at about 1:30.

Static, although quite spaced out, worked well with the tat stands on the other side. It did leave a huge space on the grass by the taxiway which did make it feel a little bit empty. Nice to watch the displays though, we were right in front of the F-35 when it did its 'blink and you'll miss it' appearance. Ears are still ringing now! And what a final pass from that KC-135 eh?!

From what I've seen, some of the camp sites are in 2008 condition! Blue car park was getting a bit swampy as you got on to the ramps but the actual parking area itself wasn't too bad. Turning right out of the blue car park and on the way to the A419/Cricklade direction, roads were quite flooded in places.

Other than a mild case of trench foot I had a remarkably good day. Drove straight into blue at 6.15 then sat in the car until the FRIAT queue started moving. Lovely bimble round the static, followed by some impressive flying skill on display, then another wander around the static. Got onboard a couple of aircraft, chatted with some crews. Got some nice arty static shots in the rain, reflections etc. Mine was one of last cars left in my bit of blue, drove straight out again.

Hoping for better weather tomorrow and a full programme, but if not just try to make the most of it. Life’s too short!
2024 shows: Cosford, Sywell, RIAT, Zeltweg with a couple of Duxford and Shuttleworth shows thrown into the mix.

Yours lived longer than mine lol. I ended up having to pay £35 for a RIAT one. And I know I'm not getting it on the plane come Monday when I fly home

If anyone else can only see the first part, the second part says "Colleagues within our Air Operations team are in constant communication with the Met Office, who are also on site at RAF Fairford. We can confirm that having reviewed all relevant information, Saturday's RIAT will take place as planned."

Harrier down for 2 displays tomorrow.??? one of which right after a F35.

Looks like B52 refueling from KC135. Both listed together with B52 solo later in the show

In other words the B-52 will flypast with the KC-135 and will take 4 hours to turn round for its next pass 😆

If the 262 doesn't manage to get airborne I hope they can at least run it up and down the runway. Others I want to see are B52, Tornado and Harrier. With the weather as it is I'll be happy at that.

You know today was one of those days when I couldn't resist the urge to get a small bag of pick and mix, and when I went to dig in, the bag split at the bottom due to getting wet resulting in half falling out 🙃

Serves me right for paying those prices!

It's getting absolutely ridiculous that FRIAT, at the prices they're now charging, is the one place on the showground where you don't get any commentary at all. There is surely no excuse for cutting it out of the enthusiast's show? It really diminishes the programme.

FRIAT is becoming less and less value...
I quite agree. I actually emailed Wendy a month or so back and she told me that they were going to be having the commentary on... So much for that.

Is there a radio RIAT this year, and what frequency? I've got a vague idea it's 87. something fm.
Does that carry the commentary?

Excerpt from email from RIAT:

For people who are travelling to us tomorrow, we encourage them to prepare appropriately with warm and waterproof clothing, as well as suitable footwear. Please make sure you have your tickets and car passes handy. Also, please ensure you follow our advertised routes and not your sat nav.

Car park pass handy... Does that mean displayed on dashboard on entry?

Mine accidentally remained on the passenger seat and I wasn’t stopped at any point.

I’ve looked around for a streaming source as it would be good to be able to listen in on the mobile phone but don’t see any sign of one?

Does anybody know if there is/will be a streaming source for Air Tattoo Live Radio please?

When I go to Santa Pod I can stream Nitro FM 96.2 direct from their website but aside from not being able to stream Air Tattoo Live from any of the many radio apps I have on my iPhone I don’t even see 87.7FM mentioned on airtattoo.com let alone a way of streaming…maybe I’ve missed something?

Thanks & kind regards,
-=Glyn=-

I believe it's RSL only (restricted service license) and no stream surprisingly enough in this day and age.
