The two Travel Airs are definitely the standouts on that list. Bit surprising it’s taken this long for the Mystery Ship to be booked to fly though considering it’s based at Old Warden now.

The previous pilot passed away. I’m not sure who the designated pilot is now.

I'd love to see that gorgeous Ryan STM come outside, even if it doesn't fly.

If they could double the size of that guest list with similar quality, it would be a must do for me, especially if they all fly.

If memory is correct, they did put it outside near the cafe for the Around the World show earlier this year, along with the Travelairs, amongst others - so it wouldn'tbe unthinkable for it to happen again one day soon.

That's interesting, three Steiglitz turned up at Old Warden last time they were here

Update on Facebook:

Announcing additional aircraft for our Bedfordshire Vintage Air Show lineup on 3rd September!

The WACO UPF-7 and Travel Air D4000 will join the Beechcraft Mode 17 Staggerwing in the skies over Old Warden for a flying slot dedicated to American aircraft.

I hadn't realised they now bring people in round the end of the runway (its been a while) so I missed the sign at the roundabout and took the old route into Old Warden round the back. Drove straight in anyway. Fab day out with weather and light just getting better and better.

Quite a decent show with a good line up, some gems amongst the visitors - for me the tricyle under cariage Beech 18 was a new one. The light was brilliant for photographs, surprisingly there was no haze despite the early morning pea souper. It was so good that I actually dug out my rarely used 1.4 teleconverter and was shooting on iso 100. However "be careful what you wish for", for me towards the end of the day the heat was just too much. And faced with the long trek back up North, wisely threw in the towel and vacated around 4pm just after the Mystery ship landed, shame I didn't watch the Diamond Nine, maybe next time. I'm quite tempted to return next Saturday for the DeHavilland fly in. The only spoiler on the day was that bl**dy incessant fairground organ, did me head in. Glad they pulled the plug when the flying started. :flushed:
