Must be the Thunderbirds as no one else usually confirms this early except for other USAF items. Thunderbirds confirmed around this time of year for RIAT 2017. And it would definitely fit with the 50 years of the F-16.

Thunderbirds was in December for the 2017 show wasn’t it? Canadian CF-18 also in December for the 2018 show. Apart from the ‘we hope to have the F-35B and P-8A’ that was circling around in October for one of the shows, I can’t remember an earlier RIAT aircraft update.
I am impartial to a bit of jet noise.

An update on the 16th with one of the themes being the 50th anniversary of the F-16, interesting!

It’s not the Thunderbirds as they’re down for the Artic Thunder airshow on the day of RIAT!

I’m going to burst peoples bubbles now, mainly because I’d rather not see people yelling at DBH tomorrow when they haven’t actually said there is an update (although I can see how people may think there is).

There is no aircraft announcement tomorrow.

It’s other content being published.

The list at the moment for the Thunderbirds appearances is a preliminary one only. On the schedule it states "Here is the preliminary 2024 airshow schedule for the US Air Force Thunderbirds! This schedule has been released on a preliminary basis only, and will likely see multiple changes."

Marketing 101, if you tease something, damn well make sure it happens!

Edit: Oh, it did happen. It's a 2 minute long video to say there was an airshow last year. Christ, that didn't warrant the tease!

Air Tattoo YouTube has just posted a video showcasing the Me262 at RIAT last year. Lines up with the video yesterday. False alarm folks. 😅

Love this forum!
RIAT - "Somethings going to happen"
Forum - "OMG It's the THUNDERBIRDS!"
Knowledgeable insider - "Chill out folks just some fluff"
Forum - "But what about the THUNDERBIRDS! You promised!"
*some time later something has happened*
Forum - "Well that was disappointing"

I know this isn't what happened and I misrepresent, just tickled me. For me I'm just so glad that the days when Thursdays are a red letter day are coming round again, it's been a long joyless time since July!

A bit bizarre to do that, 12pm on Thursdays are known for updates, were they just wanting to have some fun at our expense?!

As posted by skylinerworld in aviation waffle.....

Would love to see an Eagle demo again, suppose the only viable options would be the above or the Saudi demo. Haven't seen one since probably 2006/2007 at Riat. Whenever that last demo was from the USAF
IAT probably needs something like this.
Like many that attend watching fighters display is a large (but not the only) pull of going to Fairford.
and the types to be seen fly are getting a bit thin on the ground. The bread and butter going forward will be Typhoon, F-35, Gripen, F-16 and F-18 (and some years the French)
The Eastern European Migs and Ex Soviets jets have essentially dried up and probably won't be seen again.
It seems Fairford has lost it's pull with the USAF - solo fast jet displays are not the regular/ expected thing of the past.
The Swedish (or other historic fast jets like the F-104) can't display in the UK.
They did pretty well this year adding in Tornado and Harrier but additions like those won't come every year.
Of course we knew it would come to this but it does feel a bit bland. and I suspects successive shows will become more and more 'samey'

Makes me think Fairford should return to every second year again.... puts tin hat on!

Me too. We only get one show every two years here in Northern Ireland now, so I look forward to a yearly trip to Fairford.
