Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

Post by jasonT1981 »

Tickets on sale Friday 17th November.

This year’s theme is ‘Take Flight.’ Kickstart your interest in a career in the RAF, and develop an understanding of what the Service does for the defence of the United Kingdom; Get close to the cutting edge of technology with RAF aircraft & unique attractions across the showground; And immerse yourself in a thrilling, action-packed flying display programme.
Going to hold off buying tickets for 2024 until I see the line-up take form. Bought tickets right away for 2022 & 2023 but left quite disappoitment with the lack of communication and updates, especially in 2023. Started strong but then went silent for weeks, maybe a month at a time.

Yep, likewise. Had hotel and tickets booked by January last year - but this year was such a disappointment. Lets see what they manage...

Yes, me too. Its not so much the lack of updates that bothered me, rather what was ultimately presented.

I usually buy Cosford Club quite early. I'll hang fire for a while I think.

I'm rooting for Cosford, hopefully they can get back on form in 2024.

Only from the point of view of aviation 'enthusiasts' - the locals and families will turn up anyway as long as the Reds, BBMF and the Typhoon are scheduled. Indeed, they probably don't even consult the list of acts scheduled to appear before purchasing tickets. You only have to look at the comments on 'the socials' following a lack lustre Cosford - "Absolutely loved it!! When can I get tickets for next year??"

Indeed. The show sells out every year. The Reds will be there as it’s before their overseas tour kicks off, doubtless along with the Typhoon, Chinook, BBMF and Falcons. So the target audience of locals and families will be more than happy once again.

Prices seem to have gone up since last year, 40 quid for an adult this year. Kids still free. Looking at last year it was 34, so near 20% price increase wonder if that comes with a 20% increase in quality!

The RAF Cosford Air Show will return on Sunday 9th June 2024.

A capacity crowd of 55,000 people attended the Air Show in 2023 and organisers are promising the same excitement in the air and on the ground for 2024.

RAF Cosford Air Show Chair, Wing Commander Justin Blackie, said: ‘I am delighted that we can announce the return of the air show today. It’s a highlight of the air show calendar and an important event for the Royal Air Force and aviation in general.

‘The air show remains a great way for us to engage with the public, to showcase the Royal Air Force’s capabilities and to celebrate the Service’s history while looking forward to the next generation of its people and technology. I am very much looking forward to the event and I hope to see returning enthusiasts, but also many new faces, it’s a great family day out.’

Organisers are already talking to colleagues from across Defence, partners from other nations’ air forces and members of the wider private aviation community to see what aircraft are available to display on the Shropshire base.

For the 2024 Air Show, Standard Adult Tickets are on sale for £40 with Under-16s still entering the air show for free, when accompanied by a paying adult. This year, organisers have introduced a new scheme to freeze a limited number of tickets at last year’s price.

Marilyn Summers, the Air Show’s Commercial Director said: ‘We know how important it is to keep the Air Show going for future generations. Over the last few years, prices have gone up across the board and we've felt the pinch in everything from aviation fuel to toilet hire. We have absorbed all rising costs since 2019, but this year we've had to increase ticket prices to ensure we can continue to bring you an amazing show year after year.

‘We're committed to making the Air Show as affordable as possible for everyone, which is why we've frozen a limited quantity of tickets at last year’s price, to give families a great opportunity to buy tickets for only £34, saving 15% on the standard ticket price.’

Tickets for the RAF Cosford Air Show go on sale at 10am on Friday 17th November 2023 and can be purchased at www.CosfordAirShow.co.uk

I got the same mail yesterday… but it went automatically into “junk” which has never happened before.

That’s an ominous sign…..

I do hope that lessons have been learned in regards participation communication. There’s really little excuse in todays media opportunities for disclosure. Last year was poor, I’m sure we all agree.

Probably sell out anyway 😅

not hopeful after that turgid drivel.

That is half the problem, you get the above (and in the past the Vulcan) and 80 percent of people attending will be more than happy. With any luck this year Cosford will attract the same sort of international support it was doing in the years before the pandemic, 2017-19 is already seeming like a bit of a golden era when it comes to Cosford.

*I’d say 2015 - 19 to be fair. That’s when it really kicked into that higher gear in terms of a return of international teams, but your point remains the same.

I suppose hopefully there will be a bit of inertia with the foreign stuff. It seems like once a show gets onto the regular diaries of European solos etc, it takes a bit of time to drop off again.

However, at least enthusiasts can’t say they weren’t warned. Buying a ticket purely on the basis of the show’s previous reputation clearly isn’t enough.

Or, of course, the team could surprise us all. I hope they do.

The theme sounds incredibly corporate and ineffectual. The type of thing that sounds lovely at board meetings but meaningless on the ground, but happy to be wrong.

I wish them the best of luck, of course.
