What’s it like from outside photography wise for arrivals and departures?
I've never stayed for the departures but the situation for arrivals is not great (but not terrible either). Spotters were gradually pushed away from the fence during the past editions of Airpower. Last time, we were allowed to stay near the Kattigarweg https://maps.app.goo.gl/85mnh6TjH9ifRqVu5
Runway in use for arrivals is 26 most of the time.

Yeh, bit awkward. Now the headache of “do we wait until 21st June” or do we just sack it off and do another European show around that time.

That field to the left of the road looks decent if that’s accessible. Can you park in the field or is it a hike.

If it helps for context, my video of spotting from that field is below.

We parked in the field behind along with others, some parked along the road (the cars there are parked along Kattigarweg).

Note that this was on Tuesday before the show, I think access was a bit more difficult for the remainder of the show, but I recall seeing people there whilst on base.

Farmer was about and seemed happy with it. Goes without saying, but obviously don’t walk across live crops or through the corn!

I think people used to park/spot along Flatschacher Straße, but they were stopping this in 2022.

Most people (including me) parked their cars near the dirt road along the treeline going east from Kattigarweg. There was a 'no entry' sign on Kattigarweg but nobody cared. Initially, I parked my car in one of the official parking areas already marked out for the show days, but some soldiers came along and asked me (very politely) to move.

Thanks. That’s really helpful esp if the second round is as bad as last night.

On the Thursday, Police were blocking off Flatschacher Strasse from corner of the field (near Gartenweg).

The crops were very high, which made approach shots difficult.

They were more tolerant of people out in the field, but were still moving anyone on who went beyond the crop line.

I watched from Haldenweg in the afternoon, which was fine for viewing (but not great for photography). There is a stables at the end of this road - locals told me the owner isn’t keen on people going too far down towards his property, but tolerates viewers from further back.

Thanks. I'd be happy with that field to the side of the crops based on the video. Looks a decent spot.

So what's different between these "for photographer" ones and normal spotters packages?

If there is any difference, they've heavily disguised it! Unless you are attending solo I don't think there's much chance of 2 or more getting registered?

From my previous 3 experiences at AIRPOWER (all with Spotters Pass) it’s very noticeable that there’s not huge numbers present on Wednesday/Thursday but once the show days come, the Spotters Tent is rammed with families who’ve purchased a one day spotters pass. These aren’t people who we’d consider pure “spotters” but I believe the lure of closer parking, free meals and dedicated facilities means many airshow fans purchase a one day spotters pass for it.

Therefore, I suspect they’re no difference but simply prioritising the marketing of them to enthusiasts/photographers, selling only the 5 day and 2 day packages and therefore the day trippers won’t crash the website?

I hope everyone who tries this time has better success! My recommendation is to resize your passport scan and ID photo to as small file size as possible to give yourself the best chance.

I agree with this, and also do the upload first before filling in the rest of the form.

Now that I think about it some more, I seem to remember last time I got tickets in the second round rather than the first. I did it on my phone while sat on the side of a mountain in Switzerland. Amazed I got any really.

Do you make payment once you have uploaded your docs etc. or do you get invoiced separatly as we did for NTM?

Does anyone know what the returns/refund policy is as we are in the same boat where potentially 1 of us might get a ticket but the other not.

Looking forward to trying to apply on Thursday night from the middle of Cosford lol.

It seemed to go live a little earlier than announced, but had my application submitted without any problem this time. Hopefully it'll be successful!

Impulse purchased the 5 day pass this evening…first time back to Zeltweg since 2013 so looking forward to it. Will probably try and combine it with Bucharest the weekend before as well.

Hi

I went for the 5 day pass and this time successful with funds set aside to pay it. I got an email confirming receipt within a couple of minutes.

Making payment should be easy and was about to pay online. However, when I look at the payment details sent to me about an hour later it shows the bank name and address but no recipient address

The address provided in the email is as follows

'From:
airpower.spotter@bmlv.gv.at
To:
airpower.spotter@bmlv.gv.at

Thu, 4 Apr at 20:50

Thank you for your interest in a spotter package for AIRPOWER24. You will find all payment details below.

PLEASE NOTE: The accreditation will be taken into account in order in which payment is received. You are advised to transfer payment for your chosen package to the following bank account as promptly as possible.

BANK DETAILS:

Bank: BAWAG
Republik Österreich
Ballhausplatz 2
A-1010 Wien'

I know it is the bank office in Vienna as I googled the BAWAG branch addresses. Yet it appears my bank account is asking for the recipient address (i/e the airpower address not provided in the email !) which would not be the bank address. I am aware that some businesses provide a remittance address so a bank address may be be okay in some cases but I cannot be sure here

Has anyone else noticed this potential issue or is it an issue? Have your previous payments for a spotter pass for this event gone through okay using this address together with the IBAN number and BIC reference? Have any of you received this email yet?

Thank you.

I had no problems using the IBAN alone. Perhaps try a specialist service such as Wise.

Thank you for your help with this. I did try Wise but I had to go through another rigmorole of photographing my portrait picture and my passport docs to prove who I am but I am not facing that again. I could not even use the existing pics on my computer to do that.

I went through my normal bank in the end using the bank address. It appears to have worked even though the bank address is not the recipient address. The recipient address is normally required as a protection against fraud. Just hope the payment is not returned to me!

I did that as well. No idea why they want the payees address if its their account. I guess in some cases they could be based in a third country with all the sanctions issues etc. to check.

All worked very smootly last night without a single crash so hopefully spliting out the different application types (1,2,5 day) is the way forward to spread the load on the servers (or is it server!). Even managed it from my phone in the middle of RAF Cosford :)

I noted the 2 day passes sold out by 10 past and the 5 day once about 20 past.

The bank address is used to find the swift or BIC (branch identifier code, the equivalent of a UK sort code)
