Panasonic Compact TZ series

Post by frank »

Looking to replace my Panasonic compact TZ60 which seems to be coming to the end of its life. Panasonic have stopped making them and it seems there is nowhere to buy a new TZ whether it is a 70 or 80.
An other alternative is to try to the used market but not sure where to go. Grateful for any help or suggestions. Have discounted other make of compacts as I want an inbuilt eyepiece and the 30 times optical zoom it offers.

Have you looked at the Sony HX99 24-720 zoom and popup viewfinder. Very compact and light weight. I have one and find it very good.

I have a TZ95 and very good it is too. The only downer for me is that the noise levels above ASA400 are very noticeable, so hangar shots can be difficult.

Thanks to all for replies, given me a few options here. Liked the reviews on the Sony HX99, will look into this.

Hope you got sorted; just another vote for the TZ Range, my wife and I both carry a TZ70 each, - remarkable images.

One suggestion is to go to Flickr and put in the search the camera you are considering buying like the Sony HX99 for example and see the images produced in the real world by various ordinary shooters and see if you are happy with the image quality, I find Flickr a useful tool for this type of research rather than depend on sometimes biassed reviews

Here's a link direct to the HX99 on Flickr
