Ooo Lancaster/C-47 flypast anyone?

And Sunday seems the day to go.

If they can get the Typhoon/F-35/A foreign fast jet solo/a handful of warbirds this will be a brilliant show (But i'll hold out getting my hopes up).

I've always thought the Swedish Historic Flight at Duxford would be well suited to the venue.

Looks like a no on the F35 Demo, Cosford is the first display for it.

Swedish Historic would be great.

Eleven Dakotas are now showing on the IWM show page - the 11 expected/currently listed on the D-Day Squadron Website, minus Night Fright and Chalair, but with the addition of the Swiss example N431HM previously announced by the D-Day Squadron as an addition and also the previously unmentioned Hungarian Li-2 HA-LIX...

The Hungarian has now dropped off the list on the Duxford website.

Is there any news on Night Fright? Restoration updates seem to have dried up altogether.

I'd been thinking about Night Fright too, noting IWM haven't listed it on the show site - though Shuttleworth's D-Day Weekend & Sywell have announced it and it is still on their websites.

Perhaps they really meant it when they said we might not hear much from them - seems like an odd way to build anticipation - let the vast majority of people probably forget about it altogether/ never know it was nearing flight in the first place...
You may have noticed a slowdown in updates from us and that is partially on purpose as we try to keep Night fright's restoration more of a surprise until she rolls out of the hangar for the first engine runs. We'll post what we can throughout the coming months.
[Taken from the latest Night Fright page Facebook post].

So no engine runs yet then, I'd assume?

For me, the biggest surprise will be if 'Nightfright' partakes in any part of the D-Day Events of 2024?
Bearing in mind it was listed for the 75th Event!

I hope this picks up soon?

I doubt we’re going to see any fast jets then.

With it being at Midlands on the Sunday, I wonder if there is a chance we will see the Draken appear at Duxford?

I could see the Vampire or Mig 15 added. Maybe a Jet Provost or Strikemaster.

Though part of me is hoping for the Patrouille de France

Couple of pretty relevant factors on your wish list imo.
1] With the passing of Mark Petrie on April 2nd 2024 (Strikemaster Pilot & duo Lead) it's not certain at this early stage to confirm how the appearances will continue, however
there are reports that NWMAS (North Wales Military Aviation Services) he Founded will still display them as Mark's Legacy.

2] Can't find the info' just now, but the intention at present sees the F-86 for Ragley Hall operating to/from Duxford that weekend & it's on Duxfords list. :grinning:
Very good chance of the Vampire being added, as that's due at Ragley Hall too!

3] After the fuel/routing debacle that caused the Draken to curtail its display at Ragley Hall last year, One would hope for better planning this year? I'm not sure if Duxford runway
is long enough to operate from there anyway? Cambridge? More likely Norwich!

4] It would appear the definitive ' Patrouille de France' schedule is still awaited, but with the Olympics in France over that period there must be severe doubts about any chance of attending Duxford?

Although the D-Day Dak's flying on the day is most likely to fall from the 9 currently expected, it's still a worthwhile show however it pans out. :sunglasses:

Looking forward to seeing some of the flying bulls aircraft, never seen them before. Going to Duxford a few times this year, in the past I have only ever been to RIAT. Going to be a completely different style of airshow i'm guessing!
Airshows 2024 - Duxford VE day, Duxford Summer Airshow, RIAT, Duxford The Americans, Miramar, Pacific Airshow

The Olympics don’t start until almost 2 months later, at the end of July.

Vampire is the UK midlands based one so guess will operate for ragley from home base so doubt it would do Duxford as well ,french I believe I saw somewhere are having a domestic only season due to cost guess olympic summer has a impact on the season costs draken their was a strong suggestion after last yr it would base much nearer this time Birmingham was hinted can't see Duxford paying out for that and Stansted celling would limit it even further than caa

What you read about French might not be accurate as The Couteau Delta are down to perform in Portugal.

I know we've already got one Wingwalking display (which I enjoy) but I would love to see 46 Aviations Pink Stearman in the flying

I must be smoking something funny, but if Duxford can get anything from France wouldn’t Couteau Delta look good banking round the tank bank.

Tank Bank closed due to Badgers burrowing in it.
