It seems unthinkable now but back in 2003 a Russian Navy Frigate moored up in London. It coincided with a state visit by Vladimir Putin. I went to take a few pictures and was astounded to be invited on board for a tour. On the flight deck was a KA27 helicopter. I asked if I could take pictures in the cockpit, "no problem". How things have changed!

An odd yet wonderfully interesting looking helicopter - you certainly made the most of an excellent opportunity.
Thanks for sharing them.

Strange to think how relaxed we once were with the Russians? I never made it to a MAKS show and at the rate they're losing aircraft & helicopters, even if it ever became possible again there wouldn't be that much to see now anyway!
