Blue Angels Homecoming show 1-2nd November 2024, NAS Pensacola

Post by JW22 »

Hi all, debating whether to finally make a trip across the pond to finally see the Blue Angels and would love to hear from anyone who’s been to this show previously. The US Navy F-35 demo as well as the Air Force F-35 are scheduled to attend, is there a chance other US assets could turn up ?
As well I wouldn’t be hiring a car so would need to able to access the base from Pensacola itself and wondered if anyone had done it without a car before and whether there are any shuttle buses in and out of the show.
Lastly I’ve read that the museum isn’t open for non US nationals without being escorted by US national and wondered whether anyone has been and can confirm that’s true.
Any information regarding the show is massively appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

I have bitten the bullet and decided to go across the pond to see them this year also, except i went for the Dayton Airshow next month as my choice, not a huge show and other than the Blues they have F16 Demo and C17 Demo and a few other civilian acts but it’s also just 20min drive from USAF Museum so will be doing that Mon and Tue after show, haven’t seen the Blue Angels since 2005 so looking forward to seeing them in the Super Hornets 👍

Sounds ace , I understand the us shows are a completely different ball game to the ones in Europe. Never been to a US one so would be a great change, never seen the Blue Angels myself at all so it’s one that needs to be done

According to the museum website, that does look to be true, yes:

https://navalaviationmuseum.org/plan-your-visit/

It might be worth sending the museum an email and checking if that's still going to be in place for the days around the airshow.

There's no mention here

https://www.visitpensacola.com/events/b ... ming-show/

of any public transport, just parking, and also worth noting the airshow location is part of the museum, where the rehearsal spectator area is. Again, worth contacting them. If not driving (how will you get there from the airport if not driving I wonder?) then bear in mind the museum is a good half an hour's drive from Pensacola itself, probably further from Pensacola Beach.

Its a shame if the museum and show are not available to a lone UK traveller. I was lucky enough to go to the museum a few years ago and it is outstanding, it really is. Even if closer to New Orleans than Orlando..!

I’ve had a look on the website as well it just seems to mention parking only but you’d like to think there would be something in place for people not driving. Was just planning on using Uber for getting around. The museum looks excellent so it would be a shame if I did decide to go and then not be able to access it , but as you say definitely worth making sure I’d be able to attend before committing to anything so pinging them an email or two shouldn’t do any harm.

Went to the museum in august last year right after they reopened, Yes you have to be a US citizen, to get on the base or have one present I got pulled out of the non DOD line by a SP after he noticed my NAS OCEANA license plane (im not military ) all he ask was if we had any weapons or contraband and let us in. As far as the airshow goes I went to that as well no one ask anything to get on base traffic was moving smoothly and by the security gate they only checked my camera bag nothing else. Contact the PAO at base as things change often pensacolapao@gmail.com
