Why do people every year have to give a running commentary about their ticket status? We don't care!! Who has what, when did it arrive, ooh haven't got my Kempsford (rip off) booking yet, it's x months before the show and Im nervous my tickets haven't arrived etc etc. Utterly tedious.

Ha, agreed. Book something and the tickets get sent. Amazing, tell me more?

It is a thread for discussing most things, if that's what they want to discuss, its perfectly allowed. Its not the smug lurkers thread.

Starting this week with more F-16s for our 'Viper Line' static display as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the type at RIAT 2024! We're very excited to be welcoming a pair of F-16s from Portugal to RIAT; the first time since 2006 we've seen their jets at the show. In addition to the Vipers, the Portuguese Air Force is also sending their new Embraer KC-390 transport aircraft to RIAT for the first time, for static display. Obrigado!

The Lithuanian Air Force will send a pair of aircraft to RIAT to join our NATO 75th Anniversary celebrations, both on static display. We're very excited to see their Mi-8 Hip helicopter coming across to RIAT for the first time in many years. In addition, they'll also send their C-27J Spartan.

Two interesting civilian aircraft added to the static display this week; a Finnish Vinka and Yugoslavian Kraguj. Both aircraft are now operated by private owners who'll be flying them to Fairford in July. The Vinka will be on static display as our memorial tribute to Perttu Karivalo, former member of the RIAT Flying Display Team and European Airshow Council Board member, who passed away in October.

The final addition to the static display this week, another C-17 Globemaster! This jet is coming from the multinational Heavy Airlift Wing, part of Strategic Airlift Capability based at Pápa Air Base in Hungary. The crew plan to have the aircraft open and available for tours throughout the weekend.

Also this week, we've continued our discussions with the Royal Navy, and Joint Helicopter Command, and are awaiting their formal confirmations of participation at RIAT. In addition, members of our team have this week attended a briefing to the Defence Attaché community in London on plans for RIAT 2024, and a number of fruitful conversations had to try and seek final confirmations of their nations' participating aircraft.

Portuguese f-16s are very nice, as is the kc-390. Hip is great. Hard to fault this update. But we’re definitely overdue for a flying display update. Of course I understand if the can’t confirm it, it can’t go on the list. But I would have thought some people on here (and everyone on Facebook) would’ve thought they would have been a flying update after 4 weeks.

The Hip is top tier, and a debut of the Embraer KC-390 is nice.

Both the F-16 lineup and C-17 gathering! getting bigger and better.

3 C-17s already with the potential for a couple more, can't beat the heavies on static at Riat

Another quality update , don’t understand all moaning about no flying updates the static is just as important and more often than not where the real rarities are.

I am grateful. Look at what I put on the first part! But we’re overdue for a flying display update. Look at previous years for example. Not me being ungrateful, just stating something 😀

I feel like most of the flying display items are self confirmed anyway. Realistically, we can expect the Black Cats, Chinook role demo, Saudi Hawks, Polish F-16, Italian M-346/Typhoon/C-27 and maybe the V-22.

So none of those then by your previous form?

You've posted such a message every week now, to the point that it isn't suprising anymore..

Does it matter if there's 4 weeks or 40 weeks between flying announcements? The show date remains the same, what's attending usually gets announced at some point and you'll still be there regardless... what will be will be

…would they?

At any event, you can’t think something into existence. If stuff isn’t there to confirm, stuff isn’t there to confirm. Again, it’s the time of year where statics get confirmed.

I find it a bit boring that people might value, say, a flying Italian M-346 over a rare last chance Lithuanian Mi-8T, or Portuguese F-16s for the first time in 18 years. Idk. Perhaps I’m in a minority.

Plus, it’s all relative, right? What will fly at the show will be there. Come July, no-one will cares when it was announced, ten weeks before or two weeks before so long as it turns up?
