The Chinook spend ages circling and climbing to a very great height but eventually aborted the paras drop.
There was a badly placed bit of cloud on their first run in to drop (making the commentator's 5,4,3,2,1 countdown seem a little out of place), so they had to come around again, by which point they no longer had the required airspace so had to abort.

Jet Pitts just did one jet ascent then departed.
He couldn't get the jets to work initially so ended up missing his slot and departed straight home.

He had both Pitts at Old Buckenham today but obviously got the jets sorted as he flew a superb display in it

I really enjoyed returning to Farnborough on Friday. It was my first trip there for 12 years and wasn't sure what to expect - but I found it an enjoyable day which, if taken in context with the display scene as it is, was probably easily the best display outside of RIAT in the UK.

Highlights were the F-15QA, double Danish F-16 and the A321 and ATR-72 being thrown about a bit. I also really enjoyed the ground displays and only wished there was a couple more days to wander round the halls.

Obviously if you compare it to the golden years of yore, it was a pale imitation - but for what it was, it was a really enjoyable day and I hope they consider bringing back the public weekend in the future.

Certainly seemed to be a lot of families enjoying the day which I think shows there's still lots of interest from the public.

I let my 2 lose in the halls for a couple of hours, we're still going through all the tat they bagged up. Also saved me a small fortune getting the free cans and bottles of drink from the stalls all wanting to get rid. I even got offered a beer but it was just after 9.15 so politely declined. :D

Same here. The bottles of water and tonic were gratefully received!

I concur - well put.

There did seem to be a lot of food & drink on offer. I didn't really bother with pens and similar - such was their vast number - just more interesting notebooks and memorabilia - hopefully someone told ShinMaywa that their best bet to sell lots of US-2 is not just to bring a load of (very welcome) tat with them - but to also bring along the real thing. By my reckoning, it's doable with a only a stop-over or two :D.

I must have missed the US-2 stand, dammit. :D

The kids did get an umbrella, headphones, rechargeable fan, phone holders and other tat. Thats my early memories of Farnborough going with my dad.
