EAA AirVenture/Oshkosh 2024 - more photos added

Post by Niallxg »

Back home after an excellent week at AirVenture in Wisconsin. Here's a quick selection, in no particular order, of shots taken. Lots, lots more to go through.

During the week there are two night shows - Wednesday and Saturday. The former being slightly less crowded, afforded a shot of the C-17 on Boeing Plaza. However, with no barriers it was still hard work to get a clean shot.

Smoke from a display aircraft drifts over the field. I think there were a dozen DC-3/C-47s in attendance.

The Sunday before the official start events permitted a shot of the Heritage schemed T-38 before it was roped off.

One of the stars of the show, the Canadian Warplane Museum's Avro Lancaster getting airborne for its flypast with the two B-29s. Sadly limited to just one pass by organisers due to time constraints. Crews apparently had planned for more.

Throughout the week the access to aircraft is unparrelled, these Navy T-6s were shot at 9pm on the Friday night.

For a jump ship for their Skyhawk parachute team, the Canadians sent this lovely CC-138 of 440Sqn from Yellowknife to AirVenture, a journey which took them 2 days.

As part of their US Tour, the Frecce Tricolori paid a brief visit to AirVenture while on their way to Milwaukee. Sadly the crowds were only treated to some formation passes and not the full display routine.

Finally, from Saturday's fireworks show. I decided against tackling the scrum on Boeing plaza and decided to pick out something from the vintage park instead.

Hope they are of interest. More to follow if interested.

Lovely stuff, Niall. It's a great show with a huge amount of variety.

The sunset Bronco shot is very nice, well, they all are! Gotta get back there next year!

Nice set of pictures - hopefully next year I can see some of the same. With all the RIAT fuss have decided to take a break after 18 consecutive shows and go to Oshkosh. It may work out - if not I can alway ago to RIAT!!

Some superb images there! The first one, the Frecce, Canadian Twotter, and Jayhawk stand out. And are those USN T-6Bs that aren't utterly filthy? That's a rarity indeed!

Thanks for all the kind words.

Here's a few more which again might be of interest.

This year's show saw no less than four heavy bombers, I'm excluding the Boeing F-15EX, on display during the week at Boeing Plaza. With a bit of patience all could be photographed at night.

6) Sadly this year seen a fatal crash on the Monday. However, given the amount of aircraft movements it's surprisingly there ain't more incidents, than the handful that occurred during the week. Thankfully the pilot of this Harvard/Texan was able to wrestle back control.
