I don't know if you've seen the posts above, the show is looking very light (especially considering the cost of entry is near that of Farnborough).

With the trend of seeing the Swedish Historic flight at the Midlands Air Fest, Eastbourne and now Bournemouth, it would really add to the value of the ticket.

Also, why shouldn't an airshow have the Viggen or Draken? Well, I guess if you’re not interested in showcasing two of the most iconic and revolutionary fighter jets of the 20th and early 21st centuries, then sure, skip them. Who needs the Viggen's thunderous presence or the Draken spitting flames? Why bother to push the boat out, when you could just stick to the usual filler line up.
Fabulous aircraft both, love them to bits and obviously you do too. Iconic? Not sure on that, Viggen was never even exported, tremendously advanced in its day, Draken again advanced for its time but others were kicking around as good or better, but I'd leave iconic to MiG21, F-4, F-16 etc.

As others have said not really connected with commemoration of BoB, doesn't have to have any spinny thing on the front as the Mi24 proved the other year. However just to remember that in service Swedish Air Force Viggens appeared twice at Finningley BoB at home days as well as Russian Knights, Blue Angels, Spanish Hornets, Test Pilots Flanker, Danish Drakens, so there probably isn't a precedent for who can turn up to a BoB show just because its at Duxford the home of precious props!

The Czech Mi-35 Hind & Mi-17 Hip were relevant at the Duxford BoB show as 84 Czech pilots flew in the Battle of Britain. How many Swedish pilots flew in the Battle of Britain?.

Utterly irrelevant to the post Brian. Your bitch was that two pointy jet things was enough and its a Battle of Britain show not a fast jet show, therefore the same logic applies to helicopters, which I don't recall being involved.

The Czechs were more than relevant and my post at no point says they should not have been there. It does point out that other nations have attended BoB shows that have no connection at all with the event.

When I started to go to BoB shows or any other airshow for that matter there were no Spitfires or Hurricanes just Meteors, Vampires, Venoms, a Hunter, perhaps a Swift, Comet, Beverley, Hastings, Britannia and Valiant on the British side. Later Gnat, Andover, Belfast, Vulcan and, rarely, a Victor. Most of the other participants were USAF; C-47, C-123, C-124,T-33, F-86, F-84, KB-29, B-66, WB-50 later F-100, F-101, very rarely a B-47.
In those days the show was thought to be a commemoration of the event, it seems times have changed

We're going to get lots of Spitfires & Hurricanes. And a lot of Warbirds in general.

A few jets really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Yes, it is a Battle of Britain airshow aimed towards enthuisists, but Duxford shows also centred around a family airshow these days and a few jets are more likely to draw in the younger generation.

I booked my tickets last night and am looking forward to 2 great days of flying, it really doesn't bother me if there are 2/3 jet displays or a few Helicopters because the majority will largely be warbirds. The show isn't a fast jet show, no. But that doesn't mean there can't be jets at it.

Would appear the the Swedes are appearing at the BoB show -
Saab B17 | The only airworthy Saab B17, this unique, rare aircraft was flown by the Swedish Air Force as a dive bomber and target-tug during the Second World War. Its large undercarriage performs as a pair of dive brakes in flight.

That's a nice addition. Do I remember it appearing over here at Legends, 2005-ish maybe?

The Saab is attending Jersey a couple days earlier, so great to have it back at Duxford after almost 20 years.

I guess you’ll turn your back and avert your gaze when the Saab B17 flies then Brian 😂

Credit where credit is due, there are some superb additions there now - well done IWM.

I was keeping everything crossed though that the Tempest might make it following its recent test flight - I suppose we will have to wait until next season now

Fantastic looking lineup.

I did notice the B17/Lancaster formation is no longer on the page. Left over from last year by mistake?

Still though, really looking forward to next weekend now.

Rail engineering work will be taking place on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September that may affect Duxford Battle of Britain Air Show ticket holders planning to travel by train.

To help Duxford Battle of Britain Air Show visitors impacted by rail engineering works, a free shuttle bus service will run from Audley End train station.
To get to Audley End you need to depart London from Liverpool Street station.

Thanks for that. Was looking at getting the RR bus from Audley End to Whittlesford PW & then walking, but this will be easier. Credit to IWM for sorting

Last year the buses were waiting when the train pulled in and departed when full/everyone from that train going to Duxford was on.

It is the next junction up from Duxford but it doesn't have any signs (that i can see on google street view) so you come off the M11 towards Cambridge and onto Hauxton Road and you can't miss the park and ride.

I've used Trumpington for a pick up point for a taxi on flying days a few times but not for airshows.
