Ayr International Airshow 2024

Post by G-AMPZ »

The Ayr International Airshow is returning for 2024, and the dates have already been announced - Friday 6th and Saturday 7th Sept.

The airshow returned last years after a few years hiatus, and drew huge crowds to Ayr. It's a very atmospheric location looking across the Firth of Clyde towards Arran. As it is the only airshow in Scotland it deserves as much support as possible from us enthusiasts north of the border!

Is this a ‘guess the month’ competition?

It's for September 2024.

Given the dates, I expect that weekend will also be the weekend of the Northern Ireland International show which is in Sept 2024. They always shared displays in the past being on the same weekend.

It'll be interesting to see what the Organisers do to make up for the Red Arrows not being there This Year? 9 Ship of Lossie Typhoons maybe?

Good to see yet another display appearance from the Gnats listed this season - the first pairs display by them for a while.

We’re delighted to announce a very special late addition to the Saturday display line up at this week’s airshow!

The United States Air Force (USAF) C130J Super Hercules from the Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Airlift wing will appear over Ayr shorefront on Saturday 7 September. The crew will showcase this iconic transport aircraft with 70 years’ heritage. In terms of transport aircraft, this really is “the last great American Dynasty”.

We’ve been working with Prestwick Airport for many months to ensure this C130J, and crew, could join the airshow aerial display programme.

The aircraft has been especially tasked from the USAF to perform a series of special flypasts, which with its sheer size, grace and presence, will be an absolute show stopper!

During one of these flypasts, the Super Hercules will fly at slow speed, extend its flaps and open its cargo door at the rear of the aircraft. Make sure to watch carefully, as you never know what could be behind that door!

Hi all, I wonder if anyone could post a list of the serials and registrations of the actual display Aircraft which displayed on both Friday Night and on Saturday at The International Ayr Show Festival of Flight please. As usual I never got to Prestwick for the spare Aircraft so did not see these. This would be very much appreciated.

Thank you..
