I used to make model kits in my younger days, and I would dearly like to start again, however my mobility is impaired following a stroke, As yet I have no mobility in my left arm. I therefore think that doing any modelling to the standard that I would like to would at best be difficult if not impossible with my one working hand. Feel free to contradict me if there is anyone else in the same predicament.
I wondered whether as an alternative anyone out there has repainted diecast models with any success. If yes, do you have any advice?

Re: Diecast re-modelling question
I did once repaint a Diecast car model into a different colour. I removed the body from the chassis and just used normal paint stripper to remove the paint, then used an airbrush to respray it. Sorry, probably not much help if your talking aircraft models.
Re: Diecast re-modelling question
Thanks Gt5500, TBH I hadn't really considered using a paint stripper, I was thinking of a light sanding, followed by a good base coat followed by a finishing coat and new decals.Yes I'm thinking of aircraft rather than cars, however, I would assume the process would not necessarily differ.
As a follow on question Am I completely out of touch or have Corgi diecast models prices recently gone through the roof?

Re: Diecast re-modelling question
I gave up on traditional glue together models decades ago and now just collect diecasts. The quality is superb (yes they cost a lot more) but they are not really suited to being repainted, there doesn't seem to be any way to get them apart so you'd need a lot of masking.

Yes aviation diecast models are now at ridiculous prices not just Corgi but other superior brands , how they expect folk to constantly shell out at the prices is beyond me.
