Has anyone received the grandstand link yet?
I haven't. The previous email said it would be by 7 October, but no show

I spoke to Wendy yesterday and they are a bit behind unfortunately. Hopefully won't be long.

Free entry to FRIAT members at a patch meet at DBH. Is this the first of the perks??? 🤔

See link here: https://www.threshold.aero/fairs/fairford
No longer at DBH. Still free entry for FRIAT.
Unfortunately RAFCTE, the home of the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford have, without any consultation pulled the venue. This was a big blow for us as it gave us no time to shop around and find a new local venue, so we called our great partners and friends at The Army Flying Museum, who were more than happy to stand in to help the aviation enthusiast community and ensure this meet went ahead. With a large cafe doing hot and cold, food and drink, and the only AAC-based museum in the UK, there's more for you to do and see.

Can confirm that the disabled enclosure is now going to be the other side of the viewing village so it'll be nowhere near friat.

Over 10 days late and radio silence?

Would an email explaining all is in hand but there’s been a slight delay really be an issue?

“Slight delay”; wasn’t the original intention to have it done, dusted (and paid for) by the end of August?

I do think they need to be careful with dates as we’re getting to the time of year when there will be other pressures on family budgets beginning to loom large: not only Santafest but Scale Model World at Telford in a few weeks time which is when us modellers have to invent evermore imaginative methods of sneaking boxes of plastic bits into the house without the domestic chancellor of the exchequer being aware!

So that has been moved even further away from crowd centre than FRIAT!

Think the disabled people have more reasons to complain then FRIAT. If they will remain in blue and not be moved to green (which would mean they can't visit on the Friday) they will have to pass a lot of grass, which for them is much more of an issue then for not disabled people.

Given that RIAT was once organised in support of the Benevolent Fund I would never have imagined DBH would make it unnecesarry difficullt for that group of customers in the Bowen/Prince era.

Received the renewal email today and it’s as clear as mud. If we need to cancel then we must do so before 17 November, but we have until 2 February to pay? What happens if we cancel between those dates? If we pay after 17 November are our seats up for grabs?

If we do want to renew then the instructions are "Click on the 'Complete Reservation' box in this email" - but there is no such box, not that I can see anyway.

There’s also a dead link to the FRIAT area of the website and a curious paragraph that states "We will be in touch in the new year to book transport". What transport?

My read is that there will be another email very soon with the option to renew (or cancel) and pay by 2nd Feb.

You are being asked to cancel by 17th November.

WC 18th Nov - if you have neither renewed nor cancelled another link to available seating will be sent so you can change or add to your seats.

I think!

Interesting comment “we will be in touch in the New Year to book transport”.
What does that mean ? Is this regarding people who need a lift to the new location. Seems a bit cryptic.

I'm guessing it might be shuttle bus related as I dont' think FRIAT includes the shuttle bus?

Maybe now they will be offering it to everyone on FRIAT instead of them having to contact them to book like last year.

Really, it should be included as standard.

Do many people in FRIAT use the shuttle bus, given it only runs on show days? I wouldn't have thought so?

Going by the number of lanyards I see being worn in the Kempsford campsite, I assume a large percentage wouldn't need the bus.

I've seen a lot with them. Though this was before they changed the format of FRIAT to it being all 6 days. This was when you could buy weekend only or the full 6 days not like they have now.

Seem a good few this year at Swindon still though.

This year I used the bus on Saturday, car other days (didn't go on Sunday)
I used the train to get to Swindon, but have driven in the past and used the multi-storey car park - a short walk to the shuttle bus.

I drove on Friday, it took 45mins to get from A419 to the car park! On Thursday and Monday it was 7-8 mins.

Be nice if they ran the bus on Friday.

You’d get more in a Chinook or Osprey.

It took a couple of reads but I think I have the gist of it.

- If you have no changes to make, and are ready to pay, you can do so now.
- If you already know you want to cancel, you can do so now.
- If you want to change your seat, wait until the live grandstand link comes out, and change your reservation.
- Reservations are valid until 2/2/25. Pay before that date or your reservation will be cancelled.

Presumably they are just trying to slim down the amount of admin by getting some orders confirmed or cancelled ASAP.

The comment about transport I took to mean something to do with booking parking permits? I have never had one but I think it's something that they do?

Didn't think it was offered to me as an option this year - must pay more attention when I renew!
