A recent vacation to Barbados gave an opportunity for early morning visits to the Grantley Adams International Airport. Not an overly busy airport but enough to keep the camera clicking. All the attached were taken between 06.30- 09.30 when the sun is sufficiently low and in a good position for 09 arrivals and departures .(09 used almost 100% of the time). A short drive to the south side of the runway allows for easy grass parking with an aging chain wire fence. (I noted on the airport web site a tender out, to replace sections of the fence, so expect 10' high fencing soon I suspect.) The locals stop for a chat with some having knowledge of the movements. Always friendly and good humoured, as is everyone on this great Island. Of special note is the Conviasa A340-200 operating the weekly service from Caracas. This is most likely the last passenger carrying A340-200 still in service.

Interesting range of airlines and aircraft types. Gotta love that A340!

Nice set, so viewing has not changed since I was there in 2003? Was a low fence all along the whole southside, the aeroclub had a very welcome bar.

I did not go along the full south side but some of the fence had been replaced by 10’ fencing with wire on top. The fence currently at the threshold is old and in need of replacement. I suspect the tender I saw for fencing was for this section. It will become more challenging but hopefully not impossible.
