I have literally no idea what most of that means. What’s an R5?

I assume a reference to the Air Display Management firm R5 Air Displays.

If true, a very welcome return to the calendar and admittedly a show I didn't expect to return. My one and only show there was a rotten cloudy, cold day. I recall that Pete Teichman defied the gloom to display the P-40 but much was cancelled. Gosh I wonder what year that was!

2013 was the last one which was a dull, breezy day. Peter Teichman displayed his P-40 and Mustang. The Vulcan was also in attendance, along with the AAC Apache.
Can't remember what else flew that day, but do remember that traffic was carnage and facilities were very much lacking in number!

Hopefully things will be better this time

Very dull and grey day, although thankfully stayed dry.

Traffic was okay if you got there early enough, if you left it to just before flying started it was something like a two-hour plus wait to get on the airfield.

Facilities were there, just really spread out as it was a big site, if I remember from memory.

Not sure you can guess the 2025 line-up from the 2013:

Hangar 11 P40 - Since Sold
Navy Wings Sea Fury - No Longer Flying
RAF Tucano - Out of Service
Dutch B-25 - Not flown for a long time
Yak 52 - Still Flying
Hangar 11 Mustang - Not displaying frequently (if at all)
XH558 - Permantly Grounded
Hawker Hunter Missdemeanour - Sold abroad
Red Star Rebels - er?
AAC Apache Display Team - rumoured to return for 2025
B-17 Sally-B - still flying (2025 is her 50th UK anniversary)
Assorted Spitfires - Mainly Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar - Most probably still flying

And a Small Planet Airlines 737 arrival and departure during the show.

They did well to get a Tonka on static.

Will have to see how the line-up evolves, if it clashes with anything else (although I have a sneaking suspicion August 16th is Duxford Flying Evening) to see whether it's worth the trek.

It clashes with Eastbourne airshow, although it might actually benefit both airshows as they are close and could share acts/costs. It worked with Biggin Hill/Eastbourne.

Well that was not on my bingo card for 2025. I was there in 2013 for the Southeast Air Show it was the first air show i did any photography at. I use to work next to the airport and could watch the practice delays good days.

Unless the line up terrible i will be there it could well be busy there not many air show in that part of Kent. The road access to the airfield is not great. Maybe they could make Spitfire way and part of Manston road one way in and flip direction to out.

Manston International Airshow site not much there yet.

2013's show was easy one of the worst airshow experiences i've had. Shudders :fearful:

Well, it is not the same organisers this time.

One of the local rags has got a clickbait story out today about road closures. But the reality is that the rather witless reporter, who assumes there has to be road closures, just hasn't got responses from the CAA or Kent Council so really has nothing to say. That might be because everything is still in the planning stage!

There may have to be mitigations such as road closures and various restrictions/avoids around the display area - but they do take some time to work out.

I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Only an hour and a bit down the road from me. Got to be my most local show next year!

I'm watching out on this as well, it's my local show if it happens and I can cycle there or even walk (if I'm desperate!).

I went in 2013. The traffic was a complete shambles. Lots of people didn't even reach the showground. I hope they sort it out for 2025
