I hope the hornet can return. I don’t know likely that is, if at all but would be a great loss for it not to. Glad about the patrouille suisse extension but the hornet man… that sucks. Hopefully the Spanish can pull through next year and get out and about again
Yep massive loss. The Finnish and Swiss Hornet demos are the best in my opinion. Spanish not too far behind.

Japan seems to be buying the T-6 Texan. Presumably to replace the Fuji T-7.

Edit:

Japanese Gvt press release (apparently - sometimes the translation is difficult) selecting the T-6:

Funny from T-7 to T-6 and possible from T-4 to T-7...

Might warrant it's own thread, but linked to the Swiss Air Force Display discussion a few posts back, the official website for Meiringen has Axalp 2026 as cancelled too now. Previously it was just 2024 and 2025.

I remain hopeful that there'll still be variety, sure there'll be some types missing but that's always the case as time moves on. Some countries are still getting F-15s, F-16s, Gripens, Typhoons... They just have to squeeze them in amongst all the F-35 solos

It just hurts every time I see an F-35 for another nation rolling out of the production line

If the internet speculation is to be believed, Trump will close the F-35 program. https://inews.co.uk/news/donald-trump-f ... me-3410213

On the one hand that sounds good but it says to be replaced by drones ....

equally we could have a greater variety of drones to watch at an airshow than just F-35s lol

Musk is driving the drone idea. Sounds a bit like the 1957 Defence White Paper all over again. I don't think it'll happen.

To look at indeed. Like an F22 that needs to go to weight watchers.

However, I do enjoy seeing them at airshows, the sound is fantastic.

The F-35 could be hugely improved had some been given a makeover like:

Yeah it is a weird one, I have enjoyed most F-35 'displays' I've seen. The Marine F-35 at miramar was flung about ! Properly put through it's paces.

But ...... like a lot of people I don't like this plague threatening to wipe out any other type of fighter

Don’t all get excited, but at least Belgium and Denmark are carrying the global fleet with some colour. Just about.

Special Belgian F-16 tail I don’t think I’ve seen before (or have forgotten if I have!)
