Wasn’t that the jet that was used by the F-35 test unit at Edwards?

Gods, I wish another country had the balls to order the Kawasaki P-1, a dedicated Maritime Surveillance Platform, that's just cool as... Instead, we're just getting converted airliners, that, if they go anything close to low-level, they'll max their fatigue life a lot quicker than expected.

I think that one of the reasons short to medium range airliners are chosen is the they spend a lot of time at medium to low altitudes so the mission profile isn't so different. Also the utilisation of military aircraft is a lot lower than civil aircraft.
I think the B737/A320 series will be fine

I mean, it’s really easy to say as a spotter, but speaking to my father in law (who had been a flight navigator on in the RCAF for 40 years) explains that the difference between the older aircraft they’re replacing such as the Aurora/Orion/Nimrod etc is like chalk and cheese.

I was originally of the mocking tone saying ‘hahaha upgrading to a Ryan Air 737’ but then he says the Poseidon is so advanced beyond what they’re used to and that the air force pilots/navigators love the thing.

RAF's next-gen Tempest stealth fighter made from recycled old-gen Tornados

Individual parts from retired combat aircraft have been ground down and 3D-printed into new components suitable for the RAF's next-generation Tempest.

The recycling project has seen parts from old Tornado aircraft turned into powdered metal and used to make new components that will be suitable for the stealth jet.
