+1 for the Italians from me. Expertly flown and not long left to enjoy the mb339 as both Frecce and al Fursan are retiring in a few years. Personally less in enthusiastic about the french. Not because I don’t like them because they’re great, Arguably better than the red arrows but I’d rather get Couteau delta and/or rafale solo. Been far too long since Couteau delta (7 years this year) and the rafale arguably best solo jet display in Europe right now. All would be great but can reasonably expect 1 after none last year.

Now I think about it, idk what jet teams could come that are likely ish.

Red arrows are a given
Italians: would be surprised if not again
Turkish stars: more of a hope and prey for me

Not rlly sure what else. I doubt the Aguila will come again in short succession (not that I’m overly desperate to see them)
Pat suisse already said not coming
Why wouldn't the Aguila come again? Wasn't it them with the extremely fun and enthusiastic commentator a few years ago?

Being honest though I've got no clue what the first announcement will be next Thursday but I expect it'll be something flying to get some interest behind the weekly announcements perhaps? I have no doubt when it's not an F22 or B1 though the comments will not be overjoyed! Personally I'd like to see the Italians as I'm very knew to the airshow scene and RIAT generally (I've only been a few times before) and I've heard they're one of the best display teams out there so would love to see them. Obviously would love to see something American flying but I find it unlikely, and beyond that I just want some decent weather on the day being honest
Yes the Agulia did have an enthusiastic commentator but their aircraft are old and slow and the performance goes on for about 20-30 minutes, Don't get me wrong they are good to see but it just drags on too long.

Italians usually confirm closer to the show itself but again they would be great to see and they certainly are one of the best teams out there.

Only one nice day? I am hoping for a whole week of sunshine like it was back in 2022.

My mistake - due to complete family disinterest I only usually attend on the Saturday so for me it is just the one day.

I don’t really remember the performance from Aguilla last time I saw it but I think I reasonably enjoy everything - you lot always have criticisms of all the displays but I always seem to be in a bit of a RIAT like happy mood where I just think everything’s brilliant even if it really isn’t..!

I'm going to be boring and say its some of the RAF stuff, Typhoon and BBMF and all.

But I could see it being the Finns or Spanish this early on, still hoping for another Finnish F-18 display or Spanish EF2000 display for this year and they are often trailblazers in RIAT announcements.

Even before they've been given their display authority for the year. Yep it will be them.

As in their PDA? They confirmed last year and the year before in march but they achieved PDA in may. I could be wrong

As Caper mentioned in the themed photo thread - a Georgian Su-25 Frogfoot. That’s gone up in my wants for this years show big time.

I know a lot of people have said it can’t attend due to (please fill in the reason folks, I cannot remember, something to do with its not designed to fly in western skies?)

Last UK attendance was at Farnborough in 2002. So it can be done.

That would be some addition.

Agree with you JMC.

Its hardly an original wish, but ex-Soviet/Russian hardware has gone from unlikely to near impossible now; but nevertheless, Polish MiG-29, Georgian Su-25, Indian Su-30, Hungarian Mi-24 etc would be so good.

I can't quite remember it all but, basically it was apparently said that they aren't compatible with our systems (assumption, Radars receivers, radio frequencies extra) because they wouldn't be nato standard, like the Polish Migs & SU's would be. To me it doesn't make much sense because surely if that was the case, how could the Ukrainian Flankers operate in our Airspace & the likes of Indian ones. So to me it's like when people said the B2's couldn't be outside & fly in bad weather, just bollock really & as others have said they've been before not exactly too long ago, so what's really changed much? Add that a Bulgarian SU-25 was due to display at a Romanian Airshow (yes it did cancel in the end, reason being we can only speculate) but, they're in NATO, so surely they'd of known if they couldn't of come in the first place, not confirm. I guess we'll see if one ever comes back, I think I speak for all here, that it's incorrect info & they do come one day 😎.

Yep any Frogfoot would be unreal in this day and age. The fact the Bulgarian one was due to come to an airshow in a NATO Country is a good sign.

Most years nearer the show people put up a poll of what is that stand out item at Riat this year. If a SU-25 was on that list, I don't think anything realistically would top it.

We all know that Riat have a good track record of pulling stuff out of the bag ... not long to wait until we see the start of this years lineup!

A reminder of the staff notice; once updates start in earnest this week, this wish list thread shall shortly be locked, and discussions of “wouldn’t it be nice if…” in the main RIAT 2025 thread will be removed.

Discussions in the RIAT thread are to be about aircraft attending, or rumoured to be attending, RIAT, not speculative “wouldn’t it be cool…” type posts based on nothing.

PM a staff member if you’re unsure your post falls within the lines or not.

Apologies in advance for more heavy handed modding this year; hopefully discussions can be a little more focused and substantive than they have been previously.

Better get in quick then.

USAF B-52H with the orange bits on it.
Turkish AF T-38s
Ramstein C-130J wearing D-Day stripes
French CEV/DGA Fokker 100
Portuguese Merlin and P-3
German, French and Spanish Tigres/Tigers - don't care how they manage it, lorry, bus, train, ship, back of A400M
French E-2 and Atlantique 2 displays
Bulgarian AF Su25
As they're invited, fingers crossed for a swift end now Mr Trump is taking charge - Ukrainian Su24
Serbian AF - Oraos and MiG29s before the Rafale takes over
Brazilian P-3 and Chilean E-3
and finally Algerian AF MiG25 and Su24 with Il76 support

All seem reasonably realistic

I'm sure all the usual fast jet suspects and ISR types will appear with the way Peter and the team operate these days.

Aha, will leave it for a day or two yet, but just wanted to drop a gentle reminder.

Good to see some new usernames, too, and worth flagging ahead of time.

But Tom, won’t you miss the requests for Chinese Chengdu’s even though the nation hasn’t been invited?

That aside, i’d say that’s pretty wise!

Completely understand why your doing it, but in a way I’m going to miss the completely unrealistic speculation in the run up to the show it feels like a bit of a tradition at this point 😂

Might not be out of the realms of possibility. I didn't have any reason to think that the Saudis would bring the F-15SA last year. Would love a Saudi Tonka

Germans have a full Tornado display would love to see that, Saudi Tonka would be good to see aswell, Will the Italian Tornado still be around at RIAT time?

Who informed you of that? 😂
I’m only joking you probably knew already 🙂

jokes aside that would be fantastic. Neve had the chance to see a fully aerobatic tornado display. However from the Saudis I’d rather see their F15C display. Hopefully in that nice black and green scheme if they still have it

They do indeed, whether it’s performed outside of Ila Berlin is another story but it would be incredible

Just because they performed a one off display at ILA doesn’t mean they have a display team/demo worked up to start a whole season.

The German Typhoon performed for years at ILA as a one off display before it became a solo display team/ventured out of Germany.

I’d be more intrigued had it displayed a few times at multiple venues.

However, this is what this thread is for though right?
