i think pryo stopped at cosford since the insurance hike for civillian displays over military land, same reason as why Aerosuperbatics do not display here anymore... hoping i haven't just dreamt that now !

Don't think you haven't dreamt that, something happened in 2022 when some civilian teams (Team Raven and Wingwalkers?) had to pull out last minute due to insurance reasons.

Edit - looking back at the 2022 thread it was just Team Raven. Wingwalkers haven't been at Cosford since 2017 before the new insurance regulations came in.

They'll be great there.

However, if they want a "lying display" they ought to just book Boris Johnson...... (probably his fees are too high I'd imagine.)

Was just about to ask when they usually started what are the chances 😂
is Cosford able to cater to larger aircraft on static or is there a smaller aircraft limit due to the size of the airfield? I’m clueless on the terminology and all the correct phrasing so forgive me

I've never been to Cosford but from what I know most aircraft don't operate from Cosford they operate from RAF Shawbury so no larger aircraft unless they are already at Cosford as part of the museum.

Someone with better knowledge can correct me if I'm wrong

That's what I was wondering about - if larger aircraft can't land at Cosford - how do they even try too build a varied static display? Or is Static Sunday just going to be a different aircraft from the museum and smaller general aviation aircraft announcements each week?

Depends on what you consider a "large aircraft"...
When I worked at RAF Cosford we had an Atlas for static display at the Air Show in 2017. (And an Italian Spartan in the same year).
Not saying it was easy, but it's not impossible!

Looks slightly tight but I guess it's possible! Talking of the Italian Spartan is international participation quite a rarity on static?

RAF Shawbury is closed for 18 months to fixed wing aircraft apparently

Does that mean that any international foreign jet displays this year would be operating from Waddington like I believe the Mirages did last year? (correct me if I’m wrong)

I can't see Shawbury hosting anything due to the ongoing resurfacing works until next year. So anything fast or large will have to operate from elsewhere. Brize or Waddington possibly? Be nice to see the Swiss operate from Cosford though...although where they'll park I don't really know? There's not a lot of apron areas left when you've got most of it taken up with the static displays.

When the Swiss PC-7 team last flew at Cosford they operated from the base itself. If my memory serves me correctly, they parked on the live side grass to the East.

As I’ve said before, the Swiss team will be excellent to see at RAF Cosford. Perfectly venue for them.

There’s normally something small and neat from Europe. A Dutch NH90, German Lynx, or Irish PC-9/EC135 wouldn’t be regarded as strangers to the show. Sometimes stuff from further afield. An oft forgotten gem was a Slovak Let-410 on static in 2019.
