I wondered if there would be any activity southside as the torrential rain bounced off the roof of the portakabin I was in Northside. The clouds parted around 2pm so a quick break was timed with PV202 and PT462 being pulled out.
The BBMF Dak was being squeezed into H2 watched by their Chippie.
Not often I manage to get the first two types I flew in, in the same frame - a Silver City Airways C-47/DC-3 in 1956 from Lydd to Wick and a Chipmunk around 1970 from what is now Inverness Airport...
Managed to catch PV202 and PT462 just before I headed home.

Duxford Thursday 27th February:

After a period with ARC, Old Buckenham based Yale G-BYNF departed to Le Havre this morning.

Image

Wacky Wabbit was busy this afternoon:

Visiting today, Commander 114B G-FMLY and MD500E N500TY:

First aircraft movement from Airspace is DH.9 D5649, presently parked in the Conservation Area:

Image

Most airframes are clear and ready to move, new tall fencing means very restricted views from ground level.
Here are a few 'new' angles I found, more work needed, I think:

Comet 4 G-APDB is now off axle stands, with skates waiting for the move outside:

In preparation for Tuesday's move of the BAe 146, the fenceline has moved back over the tiedowns, giving a clearer view of Airliner Row.

Mmmm, pleasing to see the Comet outside in the fresh air but then in reality, not at all pleasing to see it outside bearing in mind this eviction is for the foreseeable future.

Duxford Tuesday 11th March (Part 1):

It was a simple move, the Hastings, Victor and Harrier moved out of Airspace to allow the Comet into the open.
'DB will continue the move onto Airliner Row early tomorrow. the others returned inside.
Extremely mixed feelings all round. A delight to see such a beautiful and historic aircraft in the sunshine, a tragedy that she will inevitably deteriorate outside.
DAS have been custodians since February 1974 and deserve our support in the never ending task of caring for their fleet.

For anyone keen to make a donation to support the airliners, there is a link to do so on the British Airliner Collection Website (https://www.britairliners.org/support-britliners).

Alternatively, if visiting Duxford, their Bookshop in front of Hangar 5 (Conservation in Action) is always well stocked, not only with second-hand books & magazines on just about every possible aviation topic, but also model kits, aircraft instruments and lots more (including a piece of tank track I noticed in there today).

If Carlsberg did aircraft, the Lockheed Constellation and the de Havilland Comet are surely the prettiest, closely followed by the Britannia!
