Couldn't Tridents land in fog in the 1960's?

Obviously Grizzlies can't bear fog.

( Yeah, I know they're Atlas now, but why spoil a bad pun ? )

The last one to divert did give it a fair few attempts before giving up.

No idea what they're up to ( wrong side of the Country for me ) but ADSB-Ex & Live-Mode-S have several flights of Swiss F-18s transiting the UK heading North.

Just picked up an aircraft reporting as being at Flight Level 850 ( 85,000ft ) travelling at Mach 3.5
Some super-duper secret black-ops military aircraft?
Another one of Musk's SpaceX craft?

Nope....one of the usual thicko GA plonkers we get in this area who hasn't got a clue what they're on about and who is often heard using local airfield frequencies ( usually Swansea ) for chatting on.

Three times today (saw the last one heading West) have had transport aircraft of some sort over North Shropshire but not showing on any tracking sites.
The one I did see looked like a four engined turbo-prop, possibly an Antonov or Hercules?
Seemed odd, as the Antonovs do usually show up.

Think Brize's semi-permanant resident Australian C-130 was up that way too, after yet another couple of hours of beach-bashing at Pembrey this morning.

Lots of the USAF SOC C-130 movements don't show up on ADSB - not only some of the Mildenhall-based MC-130J but also transient A/MC-130J. The two AC-130J and three MC-130J that arrived into Mildenhall on Sunday weren't tracking and it was probably these MC-130J that you heard today carrying on home.

Their other unhelpful habit is to tape over almost all numbers and markings to make identifying them slightly harder.

Not for the first time, currently got a Belgian A400 playing on the beach down Pembrey way.

No idea what's going on, but looking on ADS-B Exch. earlier there were three Omani Government VIP aircraft ( 2x B747s and a Gulf-5 ) transiting up through Europe.....just checked & they at Brussels Airport.

More unusually, also saw a Russian Military Tu-154 crossing Eastern Ukraine and landing at Zaporizhzhia ( unless there was some location spoofing going on )

Heard the callsigns VALOR & REAPER at around Midday and assumed they were F-15s
Nope...F-35s.

Also assumed they were returning to Lakenheath.
Wrong again...Fairford.

Haven't heard them departing, so possibly still there.

Not pedantry, they're totally different things.

Yup, a 'go around' is not a circuit of a holding pattern, it's an abandoned final approach to a runway.

I am aware that go-rounds and holding patterns are different things ,I initially wrote go- rounds as it was taking place over an airfield rather than a designated beacon ( ie Biggin) then realised someone would jump in to correct me,thanks :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I wasn't trying to correct you but are you talking about AUR3LG which was operated by ATR 72-600 G-ORAI on flight number GR603 today?

Oh blimey, can't emember now, think it was AUR603 ( senior moment ) anyway I know technically it wasn't doing go rounds or missed approaches but was holding and hoping the fog would clear enough for a landing ,Happy Christmas

Omani C-130 heading SW across north Bristol just gone over my house - very distinctive sound that we don't get much anymore, now that most of the traffic from Brize is A-400ms.

Saw 4 contrails together over Sussex at 9ish this morning then 3/4 heading south a little later. Fr24 showed a Soudi tanker for the second lot so I assume it was all Saudis heading home from Washington

Anyone following fr24 today, may have noticed a certain ghostly apparition flying from Heathrow to New York. Flight number BAW9999 supposedly took off at 11:00 this morning. It's at present just passing Boston. Not mentioning any details, but it is an interesting April 1st effort.

I was around Mildenhall and Marham yesterday. Saw a couple of Typhoons from Coningsby and 2 F35's leaving Marham. Just before Littleport I saw a 3 ship of single tailed jets. I can't see them anywhere on FR24/ADSB playback. Any way I can find them? (they passed over at 1656 and 1706 UTC)

Popped home for lunch today and suddenly heard the most dull groan going on, so much so builders down my road were also looking up and around. Turns out it was one of the AN-12s. The noise from them is mental lol

Would love to see and hear one take off ! It passed by at 24000 feet and was still making a very deep hum !
