Dutch A330 would be amazing but.... is more likely to be a Dutch Extra 330 display?

Cosford have been liking the comments on Facebook saying A330, don't they normally like the correct comments?

A big dull grey airliner based tube flying through at 1000 feet, looking at the undersides into the sun. I reserve judgement on the definition of amazing but...........

Let's hope its the Extra. :grinning:

Well... yeah amazing was hyperbole. A330 would be *nice*! Extra 330 would be.... very boring.

A330 MRTT would be great... Different size of aircraft, potentially some sort of demo (as beanworm pointed out it'd be a long way for a flypast), something not seen all that often. Adds a bit of variety.

Wikipedia (I'm a hardcore enthusiast and only use the most reliable sources) suggests Dutch AF don't use extra 330 so would presumably need to be civilian aerobatic display, which would be the same as another confirmed act... which seems unlikely. Fingers crossed for the heavy!

Yes, they usually do.

If it is, another great catch for Cosford. Really shaping up to be a great show

I doubt they'd do a single announcement for a flypast so hopefully it is some kind of demo?
They might, and if it does turn out to be the A330 it may be on a deployment anyway in the UK, making it less of a long way to come just for a flypast. I'm with caper, if it is an A330 and it's a flypast then it might be a good catch, but it won't be anything particularly exciting to witness.

OK, it was during a different era, but there was a flypast from a KDC-10 during RIAT operating from its home base in the late 90s, not only for one day, but it was repeated the next day. Only difference was that the second day it towed over not 3 but 4 F-16s operating from their homebase that had been especially opened for the occasion.

This is true and it was good to see. 1999 was the year. Unfortunately they no longer have F-16s, so if its a flypast with the current type it will be even worse!

Wouldn't mind it dragging across 3 or 4 F35s 🤣

Most likely a couple of flypast, hopefully boom out at least. Going to be optimistic (back to my annoyingly optimistic self) and hope it'll be accompanied on a flypast by either Polish F16 or the Rafale (assuming both part of the shared tanker consortium)!

Apparently there are is no plans for any double or triple announcements for the remaining weeks per X (twitter), so with four weeks left and no tutor, falcons, blackcats and swordfish those are likely to be the remaining items.

There ended up being quite a few unannounced items, flypasts and such on the day last year, do we think there'll be any luck this year?

Usually some of the RAF flypasts if i recall? Seems likely with so few announcements left. I am curious what other contributions there are but the RAF Falcons and Tutor and other seem likely announcements now - not that I’m moaning - Cosford have done very well this year with attracting an international lineup.

Last year there was the Hawk T2 and A400 pair flypasts that were unannounced and a few other unannounced items due to cancellations.

Gnat was also unannounced until the morning of the show and the running order was released.

Was it last year there was a KC135 announced on the day or closely before, which then had to cancel? Be nice if the USAF send something across to make up for the cancellation (though guessing air forces don't really think that way).

I believe the KC135 was 2023.

*Goes to past threads to check

Edit -Yes, appeared on the running order on the day in 2023 only to cancel.

Hopefully they don't park the helicopters in a car park again this year, and actually design a coherent static display layout.
