Festival of Flight 2025 - 28/29th June

Post by Professor_M »

The Festival of Flight returns in 2025 and whilst Shuttleworth are yet to announce any participants for next year's shows, the German Flying Legends Gmbh on their website list F4U Corsair D-FCOR as a participant.

Having appeared on static display at RIAT this year, it hasn't performed a flying display at a UK show since Flying Legends 2015 with a former owner.

Hopefully it'll be confirmed by Shuttleworth in due course...

(And a rather thorough history of D-FCOR from November 2023 when news of its sale emerged https://www.key.aero/article/german-cor ... -new-owner).

It would be wonderful if Mike Carlson's Fokker pair (D.VII & DR.1) were to put in am appearance? They performed a splendid show at Sywell last Summer.

Must be noted that some of the line-up will added to the evening show, so not all will fly in the afternoon. I hadn't appreciated that until I emailed them. Decision on what fly's when in the next week.

Fingers crossed, although I surmise if it ever does show up it would be more appropriate at the 'Best of British Show' in August ?

It would also surely be a much more expensive participant too this time round, having been in Belgium when it was due to appear at the airshow but is now in, it's home of, Czechia.

The superb Jungmeister from Sywell has been added, along with a Fox Moth, to the Sunday line-up.

Had hoped it wouldn't be too long before the Lilham fleet started to appear at OW.

The ever unreliable Fokker D.XXI has been removed from the list, replaced with CAC Boomerang & Yak-3.

Intriguing - from the picture in the Facebook post, I guess that means that G-CMDK/'Warhorse' (ex-Shark) Mustang currently at Biggin Hill will be joining Mr De Morgan's fleet then imminently (BHHH will soon have Moonbeam McSwine flying and it had been expected that G-CMDK would move on)?

No change yet showing on G-Info, but one to watch...
