It's an east-west runway and you will be looking south.

The line up so far looks promising, still not made my mind up about going yet. Will give it a few more weeks to see what further displays are announced before deciding if to go or not.

Really hope this show proves to be a success, especially with others falling off the calendar.

Where was the display box last time the show was held? If it's south of the runway as would seem most 'logical' would that mean the closure of the A299 for the duration of the show?

The display at the last show was south of the runway, presumably the display line was south of the A299 as well, a quick Google maps suggests this would put the display center line around 250m from the crowd line which is about standard I think?

Of course the last show was well before 2015 so the rules will be significantly different now so I'm not sure what the plan will be this year. I can't see them closing the road though, it's the major route into Thanet.

There will be plenty of people on here with significantly more knowledge than me on this matter. But is it OK to have an active dual carriageway between the display line and the crowd line?

No, its not OK.
This was my strong assumption to put it mildly. I'll be interested to see exactly where the display axis ends up.

This got me curious as to what the rules are some digging let me to CAP 403 Flying Displays and Special Events: Safety and Administrative Requirements and Guidance
Link https://www.caa.co.uk/our-work/publicat ... t/cap-403/

Section 5.39
The minimum lateral Separation Distances between display aircraft and Crowd Line
All displays 230 metres
Speed greater than 300KIAS with velocity vector towards crowd 450 metres

Section 5.40
Has some exception for 150 metres.
I think some of the items at the Manston Airshow would fit in to this.

My idea of how you could lay it out would need to close the B2190 and Spitfire way for the display. Also from reading some of the replay on facebook from the organiser there plan is to have most aircraft operate out of Manston.
