I watched this today from the Hyeres spotter location - bit of a squeaky bum-time! All ended ok, though, thankfully.

20,000 evacuated in Cologne due to 3 WWII bombs. Not particularly unusual, but being officially reported at being two American 20 ton & one 10 ton bomb.
Can't quite believe that is correct!

Something lost in translation. Should be two 2000 pound and an 1000 pound bomb. (Checked several german news sites).

I wish. The fun-police put a stop to 'non-standard' run & breaks.....can't have anybody actually enjoying themselves in the UK doncha know...apparently the Hellenic Phantom antics at last year's event didn't go down well with the fun-police.

Why do people just have to ruin everything !!!!!! Nothing wrong with a missed approach or two .... Let's hope some of the arrivals 'push the boundaries' as much as they can.

Yeah, arrivals has changed in the last 10 or so years. When I started attending them in 2012, you would still get quite a few go-arounds each day. The attending pilots didn't have to pre-request them like they do now, just called up on the radio to ATC to ask permission. One of my favourite memories still is of the pair of TLG-51 Tornados doing multiple touch & goes & a formation missed approach on arrivals in 2013. Wouldn't see that now.

That's a shame if true, which sadly I can well believe. The arrival of those Phantoms was my personal highlight of the entire show and probably since the Ukrainians last visit.

That is very surprising. However, as some of the comments on the post say, I wonder if it is due to the production line of AW 149 helicopters in Poland or a desire to buy Chinooks. An even more interesting notion as proposed on another post from his feed is the concept of drone swarms being a major threat to modern battefield helicopters. The Russians certainly have lost some helos to drones in Ukraine. However, I don't think that is the Polish reasoning behind the cancellation.

It’s a really interesting discussion, but I agree with you; I don’t think that’s the purported redundancy of helicopters in modern battlefield environments (disagree with that as a premise anyway) is the reason for the cancellation.

I'm wondering what are the advantages of the US rotorcraft like the MV-75 compared with the autogiro concept like the Fairey Rotodyne
