B-1B flyby added on Monday at Oshkosh!

(...the day before I get there.)
Ah! Always the way

Hope it gets added to another day for you! Still one of the best experiences you can have at an airshow.

Don't despair because the B-1s are a little like I am - old, tired and well past their best.  It could go tech on Monday and be rescheduled for another day. I hope that you do catch it.

Looks like another B-1 flyby on the Thursday \m/

Also a Greyhound for the static during the early part of the week. Not much longer for those. Hoping to catch its departure. Also I'm hearing things about a large gathering of Grumman Wildcats. Gonna be a good'un.

I watched the EAA's Airventure webinar and they did mention their plan to have about a dozen (probably all the airworthy examples in the USA) Wildcats. Along with the other significant aircraft, plus the recently-announced Greyhound, you're going to have a great time.

To be honest, even if the B-1, Greyhound, and/or half the Wildcats didn't show, I think it'd still be a winner. I'm just looking forward to the Oshkosh experience for the first time. In retrospect, it seems really wrong that in 30+ years of aviation nerdery, I've never been. (The past couple times I've considered it's been the cost of car rental that's put me off, of all things, but I find that rates in Milwaukee are less than half what they are in Appleton or Green Bay, so...no more excuses!)

As long as the three-ship P-51 air racer flight scheduled for Tuesday doesn't get scrubbed, I'm good. That I really want to see.

You're correct. The sheer scale of the event will blow your mind. In 2013, my first visit, whilst my mate & I were admiring a row of about 10 T-28s, a marshall told us that another 21 were on the way! That's a total of twice the number of T-28s in Oz at the time. Ditto for Mustangs when six (!) appeared overhead in the circuit, to join the four already on the ground. Etc., etc., etc.,...

Car hire has never been a issue for me because I stay at the uni dorms and use the shuttle bus to/from the 'field. It's not for everyone, but it avoids the hassle of driving to/from the event. Also, my wee brain cannot handle driving on the 'wrong' side of the road.

The EAA webcams are online at https://www.eaa.org/airventure/live.. Arrivalsdont start until around 2pm UK time and the weather is not great at the moment so movements are down a bit. However it is only the Thursday before the show starting on Monday! Typical Oshkosh was a 'flight of 4' calling on the radio feed, they were Beech 18, 2 Grumman Widgeons and a Cessna 195. All star items in the UK but all easily lost at Oshkosh, love it, am going nexy year.
