Kenilworth Road
I scored a goal at Kenilworth Road in the goal at the far end of the photo - a volley from a corner - I was well pleased.

Re: Football Grounds
The Rockingham Road shot brings back some memories. It hasn't changed since the early eighties. I used to try and get in at half time (for free) to see the Poppies struggle! Happy days!
Re: Football Grounds
What a great set of shots
It's been a good start to the season so far. Hopefully we'll be back next year after coming so close last season.
I'm glad people still know it as the Abbey and not the Trade Recruitment Stadium. It seems like every year we have a new chairman making dodgy deals and generally screwing us over.

I once got into "trouble" with Cambridge United, for revealing that the person inside the Marvin the Moose costume was actually a girl!
I remember that! It explained why he used to dance everywhere. Unfortunatly the old Marvin was put down because he was getting a bit old.

Thanks for the comments guys,
It’s an artificial lighting system that they use during the winter months to keep the Wembley pitch in good condition, as less natural light gets onto the pitch. Believe they also use one at the Emirates as well.
The Abbey is one of my favourite grounds, with a great set of fans as well. The only downside is trying to aviod the cow pat behind the Habbin Stand!
Re: Football Grounds
The Kenilworth Road Oak Stand entrance gives the impression that on the other side of the doors is a giant Subbuteo cloth pitch complete with unironed creases. Some quality observations.

Nice to see Nene Park featuring! Many a time I stood just where you did as they battled to make it into 'the big time'....

Re: Football Grounds
Luckily, my family were posted out to Germany just before the World Cup, which meant free accommodation on Ramstein AFB!
The giant screen set-up on the baseball field at Ramstein for USA v Italy game. Let’s go play some soccer, and win us a PK!!
Then the short trip to Frankfurt, for the England v Paraguay game.
FanFest No. 1
FanFest No. 2
It was rather a hot day.....
and lastly we made the even shorter trip to Kaiserslautern, for the Australia v Japan game. Was one of the best days I had during my time there, banter with the Aussie's and non-stop drinking all day!
guess who won...
German counter-attack
That's the lot! Thanks for looking

And there's me thinking it was to mark out the pitch for the american football game.

Re: Football Grounds
Dirty Franchise FC and Leeds . Thanks for sending them down, really enjoyed our 2 league games and 2 playoff games last season, looking forward to another trip to Elland this season, hopefully give our ungrateful, huge ego-ed local lad another round of abuse if he ever gets a game .
Anyway, good set of photos. Always thought about taking the camera to games, but I just look around at the rabble I'm with and know I've chosen right to keep it at home. But next time the sea king drops off our match ball I will. Love the Luton shots, never seen that house/turnstile before

Re: Football Grounds
Lovely shots, from the crowd shots its easy to imagine the atmosphere. Football Rules!
The only ground I'm really familiar with is Nene Park, where I attend courses, conferences, meetings etc a couple of times a year.

Re: Football Grounds
Nice selection, Southend United are (or have been for the last billion years) planning to leave Roots Hall for a new 22000 seater stadium on the outskirts of town.
The site is at Fossetts Farm on the Eastside of town, as to if it will ever be built knowing the financial strife the club it in... Still an impresive looking proposal.

Re: Football Grounds
Glad to see somebody who likes "Team Franchise" as much as me. Did you go to the 'National Hockey Stadium' before the franchise got there new stadium? I remember there being a make-shift stand for away supporters and 2 paper mache cows stuck in the corner! how very odd! Hopefully it won't be to long before AFC Wimbledon overtake them?

Yeah, sadly I had the pleasure of watching a game at the National Hockey Stadium. Not the greatest ground I have been to to say the least! The away end defined temporary! I was very impressed by the Stadium MK though.
Re: Football Grounds
You dont appear to have any photos of Ipswich at the mighty Carrow Road. Especially last November when Super Grant Holt was putting 3 past you!
