The flying list has been updated for this years show and is already looking quite a good line up

Definitely. Nothing new on there from a Little Gransden point of view but clearly still going to deliver the same great show. Already some Warbird action in there. If anyone reading this has never been, trust me, you are missing something great. It's one of the best "little" shows around. Great value for your money and for charity to boot!

It's looking like a good show! Never been there before, but I think I'll pop along weather permitting - since it's just up the road from my most frequent haunt, Old Warden.

Looks excellent. The website still says "We'll also have a Harvard duo display" - anybody know more?

Always one of my favorite shows on the year but clashes with Mrs birthday weekend away at the coast  . Don't forget to visit the amazing Hurricane restoration that's at the back of the main hangar.

This flying display keeps on growing! They've now added Chris Burkett's Extra 300S along with a 40% scale model Extra. Now that is a display I'm looking forward to!

Display line goes round a corner so lends itself to topsides (bizarrely it follows the taxiway/cross runway instead of the runway). Sun works its way round in front of you by about 4pm as you face west/north west but the action is pretty close. One of my favourite display venues!

I'm sold, then. What sort of focal length will be needed for decent pics. Will 300 on a 1.6x crop do or should I borrow a 500mm?

Cheers.

Thanks for that, it'll be my first visit too and I was wondering the same.

Can you (or anyone) say what the "typical" crowds are like there?

Is it like eg. Duxford, sardines packed 3-deep along the fences and getting your head batted by big grey lenses?

Or is it more like eg. Old Warden, where you can trundle along after lunch... and either still find a spot at the front of the crowdline, or simply stand back from the fence for a mostly-unrestricted view of the flying?

Or something in between?

Should I get there early and chain a deckchair to a nice spot? Should I bring a machete to repel boarders? etc etc

It can get busy as the venue isn't that big but the view is pretty good. I've never had problems with anyone trying to barge their way into a small space next to me, the atmosphere is very relaxed.
I would say get there early, before 10:30, as you get to see the visiting aircraft arriving. If the weather is good it gets pretty busy with arrivals and you get to see Janie and Marinell arriving :joystick:

Any information about the state of the ground on the airfield or the car parks after the overnight rain?
