Lynx arrived and departed on show day last year.

Hope Old Warden didn't have anything like the rain that's just pelted us in Essex or the grounds and runway will be waterlogged.

Having not been to Old Warden before, and bearing in mind the flying doesn't start 'til 2.00, if one arrives at about mid-day does that lessen the chance of finding a parking space, and that gate tickets might have sold out?

Unlikely to have sold out I would think. There have been no warnings and several of the star items have dropped off the list.

You might have to queue a little longer at 12, and will be parked much further from your car, but I wouldn't anticipate any problems really.

Thanks for reply. Is all parking on the airfield, and are there many retail stalls?

Most of it. There is some overflow outside I think but it's not normally required to the best of my knowledge.

There's usually a few stalls to look around - some are in one of the hangars with a few more outside. Usual stuff - books, magazines, diecast and plastic models, prints etc.

Has the Wildcat flown this year?

Also the BBMF has just released their weekend schedule on Twitter that has Spitfire P7350 down for a flypast. Always welcome.

If you are including the parking on the Shuttleworth grounds, but outside the airfield gates, then I agree.

Why can't they do that at Old Warden?

Have the BBMF ever landed anything at Old Warden?

But yes would be nice.

Not that I know of, but why not? They're often in on the grass strip at Headcorn each summer.

does anyone know roughly what time flying will likely end? the website says "event ends 18:00" but is that the end of the flying or just the time the collection closes?

That's the end of the flying. I'm not sure what time they kick you out as I've never stayed that late, I think the latest I've stayed to is about 19:00.

Personally didn't see the wing touch the ground but it looked very close.

Now confirmed as not flying by show commentary.

Yes, just announced it won't partake in the flying display due to a technical issue. Knickers.

Seafire arrival - sorry about the quality - first was grabbed and all were partially back-lit at that time of day...

Skillful recovery from the sudden gust that caught it - hopefully the damage is not too severe.

Cheers,

Good to hear both the Seafire and Gladiator are relatively unscathed. What a torrid start to the season it's been.
