Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2018
Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2018
Just looking at the updated weather on BBC and it certainly implies that the rain should clear through by about 2.30 up there.
In fact here in Wycombe at the moment (11am), theres a definate 'brightness' to the sky and the rain is now just a drizzle... Here's hoping for you.
It's certainly coming your way....

Mr Benn wrote:I know I was gutted when I went to RIAT this year and the fact they cancelled the mass flyover because of 20 minutes of rain. (yes , I'm still bitter ! ) But at least I did get to see the rest of the day interrupted.
I guess having any outdoor even late September is increasing the chances of poor weather.
Will there be a live stream anywhere of what ever happens at todays show ?
I saw that as pointless too when after that the weather was fine and dandy. After that I felt like going home as I was really geared up to see that.

Imperial War Museum Duxford Hi Andy, some of the Pre-War Trainers and the Voyager unfortunately won't be flying today, but at this time this is the only change. Any further updates will be posted on our Twitter and Facebook channels as soon as this information is available. We hope you have a great day, a bit of rain won’t stop us!

At home 22 miles north at Duxford and it's stopped raining and I can see blue sky to the west.

Sad about those cancellations, I hope no more are added to the list. Still plenty of brilliant displays scheduled.

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2018
The irony...
The forecast good weather day ends up with a near full display in lousy weather.
The bad weather day looks as though they will end up with a slightly curtailed display in what sounds like a rapidly improving situation.
Have a great afternoon.

So what about the turnout?
Is it as crowded as it was yesterday?

It's pretty much stopped raining at the airfield, and I can see blue sky to the north and west.
Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2018
It'll soon be almost total blue sky here in Wycombe (1.30) so still coming your way...

Sorry I don't know. I'd guess operations reasons?

Not too bad then but still a concern for the older contingent. (Aircraft not spectators).

They flew 16 Tiger Moths on 100 formation. Aeroplanes and pilots are made of stronger stuff than many think...
Even though I've seen the Shuttleworth stuff countless times their absence is quite a hole in the programme. Voyager was expected to cancel, let's face it..

Glad you all had something to watch. Just curious why the Voyager cancelled
Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2018
The 17kt crosswind at Brize probably has something to do with it.
