Hi guys, just wondering whether anyone could post a list of the Flying Aircraft which appeared on Saturday please? Unfortunately I was unable to get to Prestwick to see the Spare Aircraft so I only require the Aircraft which flew in the Display(s) please.

Leuchars considered unsuitable! I suppose its not that odd under the current climate with the Army doubtless wanting to avoid the general public milling around anywhere inside the confines of even just the airfield. But it does seem supremely ironic. Leuchars could possibly be a likely operating base for any participants. :cuppa:

Too true FB, Kirkcaldy is such a strange choice to have a show maybe because a seaside show has less to worry about with regards to safety of the surrounding areas and general public. Getting in and out will be a nightmare so will just have to wait and see what develops...probably no static at the hosting airport either which a lot of the guys missed since Prestwick stopped that.

Leuchars is *the* most suitable place. (Since Nineteen canteen until 2013).

Its not a question of the most suitable venue, it is a question of who is going to pay for the event. From the newspaper clip it appears that Kirkcaldy have a waterfront development to promote.
I would just be thankful that Scotland might be getting any kind of seafront air display next year, regardless of location.

Indeed, and presumably there is at least some scope for basing some of the display assets at Leuchars. So in some small way, Leuchars might well come back as an airshow venue, if only as host for aircraft displaying at Kirkcaldy waterfront.

I used to work in Kirkcaldy, and can picture clearly the area which they presumably have in mind. It's not too different from the Ayr venue, maybe a slightly less attractive backdrop but similar enough in shape and layout to have obvious appeal to the organisers.

More news from Fife,

If it goes ahead the preferred date is the last Saturday in August (31st)
from the article
It is understood plans could involve other events and displays in Kirkcaldy town centre over the weekend, and Fife Airport in Glenrothes also holding a pre-show event. It is also hoped that an additional airshow in Portrush in Northern Ireland on the same day could share aircraft with the Kirkcaldy event.

Portrush and Scotland share a lot of the displaying aircraft every year anyway. So not much changes there.

The aircraft were operating mostly from Prestwick though, right on the West Coast. Would aircraft displaying at Kirkcaldy have to transit both Edinburgh and Glasgow control zones to get to Portrush, and vice versa - if they were taking the most direct route?

Think the only chance of seeing the Red Arrows in Scotland This Year is transiting to/ from USA and Canada? As all the Airshows up here are East Fortune(end of July) and where ever the Scottish International Airshow is being held (Usually early September).

Whilst disappointing, that’s probably sensible. I always thought that the Kirkcaldy seafront idea seemed a bit far-fetched.

So can you confirm there will not be an Airshow over Kirkcaldy this year?
