DCS: F-16C
DCS: F-16C
So it seems that ED have confirmed that there will be a viper in the works. I wonder how long it will take to complete now they don't have 2.5 to work on. 2 years i'm guessing?

Re: DCS: F-16C
I cant understand why they are doing an F-16.
They need to do a proper Russian/Chinese module, something that’s never been done. The F-16 has been accurately and realistically modelled multiple times.

To be fair though, the only realistic representation of an F-16 in a desktop simulator is twenty years old this year... the time is ripe for a realistic F-16 in a modern simulator.
I do agree with you that the "Red" side needs a bit of attention though, but then again Razbam's got a MiG-19 on the way, and Deka Ironworks are working on the JF-17 Thunder.
Re: DCS: F-16C
Problem is, the F-18 and F-16 are very similarly matched capability wise - they’re going to have two recently released modules that do virtually the same thing.

I'd much rather pretty much literally anything other than the most vanilla fighter jet in history, but a Tornado is pretty close to the top of the list!
I'm quite disappointed. Sure, it'll be benchmark setting in terms of quality, but it's just a dull jet, on a personal level I'm annoyed they'd focus on something like this when they could make a far more interesting and worthwhile aircraft. The game hardly needs any more PC-in-PC simulators. Even the Hornet is better than an F-16
Thank god for third party developers developing interesting aircraft like Phantoms and MiG-19s.
Fortunately Wags has intimated that it's still somewhat back burner stuff.

There's going to be nothing "recent" about the F/A-18 by the time the F-16 is released, trust me!

They'll still have their maps - Wags mentioned Golan Heights at some point. To be honest I'd be surprised if there's much crossover between those devs, the F-16 devs will be the same as the F/A-18 ones, not the 2.5 ones.

Re: DCS: F-16C
In possibly the most disgusting act ever committed by a video games developer, the F-4 has been put on hold in favour of the F-16.
"Well, there's no need for that" disgusting.

Re: DCS: F-16C
To be fair, Israeli F-16s in the Golan Heights would be pretty cool....
Re: DCS: F-16C
To be fair, not as cool as Israeli Phantoms.

Re: DCS: F-16C
Don't forget that both the Hind and the Cobra are also prioritized ahead of the Phantom
Re: DCS: F-16C
And both of those are fine, interesting, real aircraft Although how anyone could think anything should get prioritised over God's Western Fighter is beyond me. Phantom is literally perf.
