This could end up being a thread on its own, but this is quite interesting:

https://www.pilotweb.aero/news/appg-wan ... -1-6755972
Members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on General Aviation have written to the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport calling for the creation of a dedicated organisation to support owners of historically important aircraft to ensure they are protected for future generations

...

In the report, the experts highlighted that heritage aircraft, both flying and non-flying, can be uniquely vulnerable due to their fragile construction, and subject to a wide range in the standard of stewardship.

They conclude that not enough is currently being done to secure the future of these culturally important artefacts.

As a solution, the report recommended that Government should create a ‘national secretariat’, to be parented by the Science Museum or the Imperial War Museum, which would maintain a list of important aircraft and provide advice and leadership on the conservation of heritage aircraft.

...

“What we do want is a system which can act as a fall back to make sure rare aircraft do not end up on a scrap heap.”
That could be quite positive. Too often in this country are aircraft scrapped without much thought going into their historical significance or the desire of future generations to see them.

first time ive seen his work, although i have heard of it.

9 year old boy camera handling, sense of entitlement, dubiously borderline comments, loud mouth..... lordy. what a man/boy (delete as appropriate)

Still he's probably making shed loads from those who like shaky cam, so is having the last laugh.

Just came across this via the MOD's Linkedin page. Today is world photograph day apparently so I thought some of you may appreciate this.

Image

Edit - looking at it again though I'm not sure it should really count. There is obviously some photo-shopping going on as the type 45 appears to be off the wall...

Other than the painting out of the hull number (well, the entire forward section!) it looks like a legit photo to me. I'm not an expert in spotting Photoshopped images though!

I'm sure it is a genuine picture, my comment was purely sarcastic due to the Type 45's record of poor reliability at being able to stay at sea for any decent period of time

Peregrine Trophy 2020: Navy News People's Choice Award
Navy News readers have the chance to vote for their favourite photograph in this year's prestigious Peregrine Trophy awards.

We have shortlisted six photographs for the Navy News People's Choice Award, sponsored by Greenwich Hospital, which recognises images which have had a major impact on the publication, the official newspaper of the Royal Navy, over the past year.

The Peregrine Trophy's primary purpose is to encourage the production of eye-catching, powerful imagery that can be used in the media to demonstrate the operations and activities of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

To vote, please select your favourite picture.

The competition closes at midnight on September 28.

Absolutely stunning, jaw-dropping pics of a very real and potentially scary situation. Wow, those are good, the close up of 45 is incredible. When you see the manoeuvres and the proximity of power lines, the piloting is mind blowing.
