I was just looking at Cyprus on Bing Maps and thought 'What's that on the threshold of Akrotiri?' A quick zoom finds a TR1 at the beginning of it's take off roll, with chase cars in attendance :) Always gives me a bit of a grin, finding little gems like that on the aerial mapping sites

Try looking at Satenas in Sweden on Bing Maps and identify all the aircraft.

More NH-90 woes. As photogenic as it is, it really has turned out to be a pretty rubbish helicopter:

Can't say I'm surprised, an aircraft designed by committee to be a jack of all trades and master of none.

Great to see such high quality satellite images from the late 1980s!

Interesting acquisition by Meier Motors!

I’m told by locals (I’m sure someone can find confirmation either way) that there is (or was) one in the Horizon Hangar at St Athan, too.

Not totally unexpected, given the scrapping of the C-130 fleet.

I wonder if they will end up based in the UK, given the heavy Draken staff recruitment ads that have recently appeared for fast jet pilots, and single engine experienced techs etc., leading to assumptions that Draken have won the new MOD 'red-air' contract to start in summer this year.

(Might be more appropriate for the video section, but anyway, this is a neat little 9 minute video on TOPGUN including some cool footage!)
