Junos built in Donauwörth, near Munich, with modifications in Oxford.

You know I'm actually going to rescind that statement, the EC135 is actually German design, originally by MBB (as the Bo-108) rather than an Aerospatiale design as I first thought!

I consider whoever designed and built it first, you'd never call an A320 an American aircraft even though it's built in Alabama, or Chinese because it's built in Shenzen.

There were also the DHFS Squirrels - but again, RAF or not?
32 Squadron also had three Twin Squirrels, so we are not going to argue those being RAF.

Does anyone know the reason behind the 'Envoy IV' designation? Seems a little odd.

Possibly, and I'm taking a guess here and haven't checked, because they've already flown previous aircraft designated "Envoy"?

An Airspeed Envoy III was used by The Kings Flight in 1936.

And it’s why the helicopters of the Queens Helicopter Flight use the G-XX__ series in honour of Airspeed Envoy G-AEXX which the then Prince of Wals flew in the Kings Flight🙂👍

I'm not sure calling it a restoration is quite the right term, but nonetheless an interesting airframe!

Worth flagging that I don’t endorse or agree with all the wording of these tweets etc - just sharing them for interest value.

But yeh - cool project nevertheless!

In stature, grace and hue,
In shadowy silent distance grew the iceberg too....
