2019: Award Winners
Fresh from the after show party this evening:
King Hussain Memorial Sword- Best Individual Flying Demonstration- Swedish JAS-39C Gripen
Steadman Display Sword- Best UK Participant- The "Red Arrows"
Paul Bowen Trophy- Best Solo Jet Demonstration- Ukrainian Su-27P1M "Flanker"
Sir Douglas Bader Trophy- Best Individual Flying Demonstration- Finnish F/A-18C Hornet
RAF CTE Trophy- Best Overseas Flying Demonstration- Italian "Il Frecce Tricolori"
As the Crow Flies Trophy- Best Display as voted by FRIAT- Finnish F/A-18C Hornet
Best Paint Scheme- German Typhoon (JG.71)
RAFCTE Outstanding Contribution Award- Spanish Navy, EAV-8B Harriers
All thoroughly deserving, in my opinion. Although, would liked to have seen the Danish F-16 take best paint scheme.

Re: 2019: Award Winners
Couldn't disagree with too many of those. Personally I voted for the Pakistani Hercules for the best paint scheme.
I feel that they would be more deserving of the outstanding contribution, given that they presented that C-130B in such a lovely condition, from such a long way, and with so much effort in their scheme, but I think the Harrier pair is fair enough.
As for the Red Arrows, pah... Tucano, Apache, both I feel are more deserving, but there you go.

Re: 2019: Award Winners
RSV deserved something for 3 truly superb displays. C-27J the best I’ve seen from it in a long while, and the Typhoon the best I’ve seen from the type.
All very worthy winners, however. So much quality display flying, really hard to choose between a lot of displays. The Mig-21 and the Swiss F-18 were deserving of something in my view.

Re: 2019: Award Winners
Surprised there is no mention of RAF Typhoon. Thought it was a cracking display full of muscle and aggression throughout.
Re: 2019: Award Winners
Definitely agree about the RAF Typhoon. The best display of the type I think I've seen - blew the Italian one out of the water today, no question.

Re: 2019: Award Winners
Can't argue with any of that but agree the RAF Typhoon was outrageously good. If fact I thought it was the Italian one for a while. Mig 21 should have got something for being there... maybe a 'Being there' award category would work! Swiss F-18 unlucky, and the M346 but you can't give an award for everybody.

The LanceR was warned today for being too low and close, hope they don't scare him off from coming back!

Re: 2019: Award Winners
Agree with the whole list except the swedes. Which isn't to say that the swedes weren't good, just to say that the field was STACKED with well flown displays this year, and he just didn't stand out to me. I'd have gone with the C-27 there in its place maybe?
Re: 2019: Award Winners
From Totterdown the best display was the Italian Typhoon, literally had people ducking but I guess it's all about perspective.

Humor award goes to the guys and gals throwing a techno party next to the (I think it was a) Herc near the red exit during the Su27 display

Disagree, the childish fools during the Saturday on here wins the humor award. Absolutely fantastic it was.

Agreed. Thought yesterday’s demo was really well flown from a ‘technical’ point of view, and was noticeably less aggressive than the Saturday routine (which was epic)

Yes I liked the LanceR display both days, it looks a tricky machine to roll!

What Typhoon was that one?
Re: 2019: Award Winners
The black and red one, It was the only Typhoon there that was jazzed up.

Probably the Lakenheath crew - £20.00 for their patches!
Picked up a few nice patches elsewhere for much less... notably the Spanish Harrier team, the Danish F-16s, the B-52 crew and a nice Indian patch from P&V East for a tenner during arrivals.
