Luke AFB Airshow - March 21st and 22nd 2020

Post by spellow3010 »

Luke Air Force Base (Glendale, Arizona) will host a two day air-show on Saturday 21st March, and Sunday 22nd March 2020. Already headlining are USAF Thunderbirds, and the F-35A demonstration team feature heavily on the marketing so far.

I hope to be at Luke AFB for the air-show on Saturday 21st March.

More information now available on the website in the OP...

Note specifically the clear bag policy and security arrangements for this show... :surrender:

My personal highlights in the static so far anticipated will be -
A-10 Thunderbolt II
TBM Avenger
B26K Counter Invader
A6M2 Zero
RC-135 'Cobra Ball...'

Flying Display information is limited at this time, with known highlights as listed on the website...
USAF Thunderbirds
F35A Lightning II (if it's similar to the Huntington Beach demo I saw on YouTube, should be the best showing I've seen yet)
USAF 'Wings Of Blue' Parachute Team

A host of civilian acts are currently listed to perform, and these include -
Desert Rats (warbirds?)
Bob Carlton (jet powered sail plane/glider - wtf  )
Matt Younkin - exotically painted Beech-18
Kirby Chambliss - Red Bull air racer
There are others listed, including a wing walker and several aerobatics/truck top landing performers

Good family day out by the looks of it. See you there

Would be nice if the PAO would reply to emails though!

I'm planning to spend a good chunk of the day on the Friday outside the base.

When you flying out Boff? We're out of London at 1040 to LAX on 7th March. Maybe see you around... I'll drop you a PM with the full itinerary.

I would be more concerned about getting flights back home.

A few of us managed to get messages to a lot that we knew were out there and they got flights at great cost out of LA earlier in the week. Most were also being sensible and keeping an eye on developments too.

I was supposed to have flown out yesterday....

Yes, many thanks for your updates Boff...

I was out on a trip that covered Red Flag (last week) and was scheduled to take in Yuma show, El Centro show, Luke show and Lancaster Fox Field, along with an overflight of the boneyard/bus trip round it. The US quickly started to fold up on itself and the restrictions tightened daily. Was fortunate to be able to source a flight back (foregoing the whole second week of our trip) from LAX and get myself home. A scary time... and the worry continues.

On the bright side, I still came back with 9,500 new pictures!!! The BUFFs at Nellis were pleasure beyond measure.
