Duxford Shows: 2020

Same themes. Air Festival & Flying Legends dates not yet announced, although a fair assumption can be made as to when they'll be!

Battle of Britain Airshow will be the 19th & 20th September.

Hopefully the May show is slightly more inspiring next year.

Received an e-mail from IWM London advertising the air show dates.

Step back in time for an extra-special air show as we commemorate 75 years since the Battle of Britain on 19-20 Sept.

1940 to 2020 = 75 years.?

Eagle-eyed readers of our eNews may have noticed a typo in the eNews sent out last night.

In the eNews we referred to 2020 as being the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Of course, 2020 is in fact the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. IWM Duxford will be marking this important anniversary next year, culminating in September’s Battle of Britain Air Show.

We will endeavour to ensure that any eNews in future are error free before they arrive in your inbox.

Why should everyone know it FB? Or is it just a smug air of superiority? Perhaps the Venezuelans or Argentinians reading the forum may have a completely different take on the importance of a centenary next year? Are we expecting the awful autogyro thing to turn up at every airshow, someone to fly an aircraft of a ship or just celebrate the first RAF pageant? :dunno:

No weekend tickets anymore then? I liked the extra discount for committing to both days.

No, none this year. I asked why when tickets came out and I was told due to 'issues' last year with the barcodes of weekend tickets.

Of course!

The Air Navigation Act of 1920 was granted assent on 2 December 1920, gazetted on 11 February 1921, came into force on 28 March 1921 and became law on 28 June 1921. Regulations under the Act provided for the registration of aircraft, licensing of aerodromes, licensing of personnel, periodic inspection and maintenance of aircraft, and rules of the air.

I expect all airshows will be falling over themselves to use this as a theme.

Just went to buy my premium member tickets and was really disappointed to find this change. What was a relatively cheap weekend has now become quite expensive! Great catch with the Czechs, but this has slightly taken the edge off!

Basically, plan until you know for sure it can't go ahead. There is still a chance for it to happen, but the next month or so will be vital for how things go.

Indeed, and I've even got a couple of tickets just in case working on the theory that, even IF it does happen, nearer the time you'll never get a one anyway...!! (especially a parking permit.) I'd rather have one and not use it (and then give it back as a donation as I did my Legends pair when it gets cancelled) But, I can't honestly see 10,000+ people being made to keep 2 meters apart on the airfield...? :dunno:

Hasn't occurred to any of you connoisseurs of air shows, 100th Anniversary of the first Hendon Air Pageant. Therefore the first RAF Air Display.
