The final part of our 2004 aviation trip to beautiful New Zealand is new now at aviationanoraks.co.uk featuring some of the other aircraft, flying and preserved, that we came across both on North and South islands.
Hopefully, at some time in the future we will be able to return.

Pilatus Turbo Porters at Mount Cook airport.
We flew up to the glacier in MCK, with a snow landing once there and a full on Khe Sanh approach back at base! An experience I will never forget.

Squirrel on White Island.
Another incredible flight and visit.
Flew from Rotorua to visit this volcanic island. Spent an hour or so walking around with the pilot as tour guide, then flew a circuit of the island before returning to Rotorua.

With chances to see historic aircraft very rare this year, we were very grateful when RAF Cosford
gave us a heads up that Hawker Hurricane R4118 was to make a short visit on the 18th August.
We also had the bonus of a fly past by the NHS Spitfire, but it crept up on us so no photos!
We did post photos from the day on UKAR at the time, but have also now posted them on our own website.

This week it’s back to September 2007 for aviationanoraks.co.uk and a look at the Vintage Aircraft Club fly-in held at Turweston airfield.
We only popped in for a few hours but glad we did, as there were some unusual aircraft present including the Chrislea Super Ace that we had not seen fly before - or since.

In September we visited the RAF Museum at Cosford to have a look around the new Battle Of Britain Exhibition, which is now featured on our ‘Latest Update’ page at aviationanoraks.co.uk.
Well worth a visit when the museum reopens, as a number of previously unseen artefacts are on display alongside the aircraft.

More from the RAF Museum at Cosford this week.
It’s not often that we get a chance to see under the skin of a historic aircraft, but upon our September visit they had their Messerschmitt Me410 Hornisse on display partially disassembled in the Warplanes hangar as it was undergoing conservation work.
Too good an opportunity to miss, lots of photos were taken, and the results form our latest update this week.

In normal years we tend to visit Cosford twice a year as it is fairly local to us, but this was our only visit of 2020 and with everything going on in the world it made for a few hours of happy escapism.

We can tend to take our national and independent museums for granted, but this year has made us think about them a bit differently and we now intend to try and visit more of them once we can.
They certainly need us to put some money their way at the moment.

A bit of GA this week at aviationanoraks and photos from a few hours spent at Halfpenny Green back in September.
It was a warm sunny day so quite a bit going on, but the main thing was it was great to be back on an airfield photographing aeroplanes!

We’re back in the 80’s again at aviationanoraks for Christmas, with photos from the first International Air Tattoo I attended at RAF Fairford in July 1985.
The weather wasn’t the best, but as a 14 year old at his first big airshow I was in complete awe at some of the aircraft on display and the numbers lined up.
Not so many traders or sideshows back then, just rows and rows of aircraft.
Absolutely incredible considering the ticket price!

2021 at aviationanoraks.co.uk kicks off with photos from a visit early in October to the Muckleburgh Military Collection on the North Norfolk coast.
A mightily impressive collection of military vehicles, with other artefacts, models and even a Harrier GR3, we spent a lot more time here than we expected as there was so much to take in.
Well worth seeking out when times allow.

It’s back to 1985 again this week at aviationanoraks.co.uk and a small set of photos from the RAF At Home Day at Abingdon.
The weather wasn’t the best, but the line up of aircraft was impressive, and I think it was the only time I ever saw Snoopy in the air.

Aviationanoraks.co.uk stays in the 1980’s again this week, with photos from the 1987 International Air Tattoo at Fairford.
I was there on the day of the downpour and remember a lot of the grass becoming a mud bath very quickly, but hey it’s a British summer!
