Duxford Sunday 30th August:

Another 25 NHS flypasts today in 3 hours flying time. Has any Spitfire covered such a large part of the UK before ?
A true epic when you consider the flight planning required and the demanding navigation from site to site.

Always a welcome visitor, the splendid Auster Autocar from Tibenham:

Lovely Fox Moth! Very unusual to see something historic flying under NZ markings in the UK, is there an exemption these days that allows vintage aircraft to wear historic civil markings? I always thought that if it had a G-reg then it had to wear G-markings and that was that?

I believe it is owned by an Air New Zealand captain based in the Middle East.

G-INFO shows that a ‘Display of Registration Marks Exemption, is in effect, allowing it to wear its former NZ reg instead of G-CIPJ.

The BBMF Chippy looks the business, very nice. Out of interest, do modern paints/lacquers/polishes give better UV protection and prevent fading? Dayglo orange has always had a bad reputation for fading in UV.

Great to see the stub wings on the Lysander, I wonder when a Lizzie last flew with these fitted?

I know Smudge is hoping to get up to Sywell Aviation Museum soon so we can help him with some things to dangle on the wing stubs!

Absolutely love the stub wings on the Lysander, really looks the part and have to say I never knew that was a mod they had fitted.
