Newark Air Museum News 2020

Post by NAM Updater »

As with previous years I thought I’d create a new Newark Air Museum News thread to use for short updates and news snippets from eastern Nottinghamshire; nice to be the second topic in this new section of the forum!

As the year progresses other news items and updated details of museum activities can also be found in here!

This could include such things as the Indoor Aeroboot / Aerojumble Table Top Sale – 4 April 2020; etc., other event news, etc. which can also be found in here!

Many thanks to those people who have visited the museum in 2019 and we hope to see you again this year and a Happy New Year to you all.

Could a Moderator please lock the 2019 Newark Air Museum News thread?

Happy for the Eurofighter DA4 thread to be moved over as well if it helps - work due to re-start on its dismantling quite soon!

Earlier in the week we became aware of 2 fascinating Pathe News clips featuring Taylor Monoplane G-APRT that is displayed in Hangar 1. They really highlight the ‘homebuilt’ aircraft description!

Different times; enjoy “Plane in a Parlour”!!

Fingers crossed all is well at NAM; I know the weather has been severe enough to do a bit of damage to an elevon skin on the Woodford Vulcan sadly.

Those crossed fingers seem to have worked - thank you!

NAM is back open, with the following damage report:

"We have re-opened as planned today, Monday 10th February; a tether came out on the Rallye and moved it slightly, but nothing damaged; plus a couple of barrows changed formation - otherwise all OK!!"

Hoping that other sites are as lucky!

A while back we produced a Nottinghamshire Aviation Memorials booklet using funds from a Local Improvement Scheme Grant provided by the Nottinghamshire County Council. Printed copies have all gone but we are still able to email out PDF versions, we thought this might be interest for some people during this current lock-down.

Details about how to request a copy can be found in here: http://newarkairmuseum.org/Notts_Aviation
