Hispano HA.1112-M1L Buchon/139/C.4K-75/Bf 109G-4/(D-FWME)

Built in Spain in the 1950’s with a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine as a Buchon, converted in Germany in 2004 with a Daimler-Benz DB 605A engine to represent a Messerschmitt Bf 109G-4.

Great stuff Brian, the formation loop shot is the highlight for me.

Is this Buchon still airworthy and based in Germany?

Thank you....

As far as I'm aware the Messerschmitt Stiftung D-B powered 109's are non-airworthy at the moment. Their famous "FM+BB" had been going through a lengthy overhaul and was then sold, the G-10 was damaged a few years ago and is still grounded and "Red 7" has had engine gremlins.

The foundation recently acquired the two-seat G-12, but that's Merlin-powered at the moment and is currently operated by Hangar 10 at Usedom.

'Red 7' is undergoing almost a full ground-up restoration, so a little more than engine gremlins! The G-10 had a ground loop at ILA about 10 years ago, but what is stopping it flying now is engine niggles.

Thanks Huw, I hadn't realised Red 7 was having so much work.

FM-BB has emerged from its restoration: https://www.flugrevue.de/klassiker/ruec ... bOkIWY4ETs

Translation thanks to John Terrell on WiX:
Bf-109 FMBB Ready for Handover

An old friend is ready to be handed over to the Messerschmitt Foundation. The well-known Messerschmitt Bf 109G6 "FMBB" was completely rebuilt in less than two years by the Hangar 10 team and its partners.

Thanks to the Hangar 10 team on Usedom and their partners, the population of the flying Messerschmitt Bf 109 is one more specimen. After more than 10 years on the ground, the well-known Messerschmitt is now ready for flight shortly before handover to the Messerschmitt Foundation after only 16 months of complete reconstruction. The fighter, which is the second "FMBB" with the registration D-FMBD, was originally the HA-1112-M1L with the work number-156, was completely overhauled with great attention to detail and prepared for use.

In the meantime, the VVZ (provisional traffic approval) of the Federal Aviation Office is also available and the first flight can be expected in the next few weeks.

The work carried out by the experts, e.g. RPE-Austria (Rinner Performance Engines) and Hartmair Leichtbau, which were carried out around Hangar 10, also included the overhaul of the Daimler-Benz engine, which had already completed 15 hours on the test bench without any problems. When painting, the well-known coloring with the large identification on the fuselage was adhered to. A tribute, since the FMBB was the cornerstone for the flying Messerschmitts of the post-war period

In one of the upcoming issues we will report in detail about the fighter.
