Victors - the final year

Post by capercaillie »

A few shots from the final year of the last of the RAF's V-bombers in service.

Arriving at Yeovilton ahead of a threatening sky, which thankfully missed us.

The last time I saw them fly, no I wasn't at Bruntingthorpe that day! Two appeared on the approach at Finningley, one for us and the other headed off for Leuchars.

Caper love the first, two cannot think why..... :grinning: I was at Yeovilton and saw lindy there. I was still using film then of course and usually only limited myself to 2 photos of a static aircraft but took 6 of her! ( I have taken a lot more since!!) I have seen the video of the arrival at Finningley but never was able to identify the fly through aircraft. It now makes sense as I knew Lindy was at Leuchars. You should come up to Elvington when lock down ends and look at her. A very nice set, thank you for sharing.

The light on that first one is lovely, that shot could only be on film.

The Victor was such an interesting aircraft. And so very photogenic I think!

Here's a modest contribution, departing IAT in 93:

another film trait in evidence, Kodak having had a wobble processing this roll of K64, it coming back with an odd colour balance. I could put that right, if I ever got round to scanning properly.

Don't worry I've never bothered since! Cheers, must get the scanner back out and scan some more stuff during these quiet times.
