Volga-Dnepr IL-76 returns to Stansted

Post by LN Strike Eagle »

I was a bit annoyed to have missed the Volga-Dnepr IL-76 (RA-76951) that went into Stansted airport on Sunday evening - fortunately it was due back in this evening. Also shot some frames of another FedEx MD-11 while I was there.

Thanks to Tom and Andy for their help with all my Stansted spotting queries!

Yeah, I was up on that 'Hilton mound' with a few others. Didn't recognise any faces though - bit of an outsider at a civvy airport!

How did you get on from your vantage point?

Have you heard anything about an ETD for it btw?

I thought about going there but decided to go further out. I thought it might be very overgrown. It's a good spot for evening landings but you can't see the departures as you can off the mound so that's the downside.

I haven't looked at my pics in detail yet but they look okay on the camera.

It was quite overgrown, but shots from around the bus stop would have been just as good.

This is still on the ground at STN if anyone wants to see it go.

The MD-11 is a great looking aircraft isn't it? Cool shots Dan, number 2 and the last one are peachy
